What we've been up to...

February Newsletter

The month of February has been the best yet! We have really started to find our rhythm within Friends of Internationals. We just crossed our year mark of being back in the States, which is honestly really hard to comprehend. God has taken us on an incredible journey so far, and while I never would have predicted this to be where He brought us, I couldn’t possibly be happier and more fulfilled in the purpose He has for us here. As the one door of Thailand has been closed, the many doors of the Nations have been opened up to us.

Whitney continues to meet with a small group of international women with Mary, and the best part is that one of the girls comes from the same ethnic group that we were working with in Thailand! Only God could have worked that out.

Chris have started to build friendships with different international students. One of the things that I wasn’t really prepared for when we said yes to this was the frequency and difficulty of saying goodbye to so many wonderful people! We have been here in Mobile for about 7 months now, and as I was finally making a great connection with a guy from South Africa, it was time for him to leave!

Recently, I got invited to join a gathering of international grad students who have an intramural soccer team. Yesterday was my first day playing with them, and the guy who invited me is from Bangladesh, and came here to study for his Doctorate’s. Please pray for our friendship to grow and for more time to spend together with him and his wife. Two weeks ago we got to spend some time with him and his wife when we went with Jim and Mary and the international students to the local history museum. The history museum was great, and afterwards we all went downtown to get some of Mobile’s best Mo’ Bay Beignets Co.

Our connection with the leadership community within Friends of Internationals has been supernatural. We have made fast friends with the other couple who moved here to work alongside Jim and Mary during the same week as we did. Please pray for our family to continue to make deep connections with the students.
There are two European students who have expressed more and more openness to the Gospel since we arrived. One of them came over last week, and as we shared our testimony with her, she was so receptive and open to hear about the love of Jesus and how He has redeemed and restored our lives. This is the last semester for both of them in Mobile, and we hope to sow as many seeds of faith as possible before they leave.

Apart from the social, physical, and emotional difficulties of transitioning from Thailand, one of the greatest challenges has been the financial impact of our move. Please pray that God would bring supporters and monthly partners to join in our mission here to make disciples of all nations.

The whole world has been knocking on our back door, but very few have answered them through the opportunites given us with International students and refugees.

Who loved our last Facebook live? We will be doing another update in the coming weeks. Look out for an email with a date!
Would you pray for...
  • friendships to grow and increased opportunities for discipleship with Bengali students
  • wisdom to share God's love in word and deed with those we are developing friendship
  • God to move in the hearts of European students as they become more open to learn about Jesus
  • financial partnerships as we undertake this new assignment

We are so grateful for your continued support! It has been a difficult year for many. We couldn't have made the difficult and unexpected transition without your prayers, encouragement and gifts. We are so blessed to have you as our team, as we continue to step out in faith, following God's call to reach the nations.

You are so valuable to us. How can we be praying for you?
