THIS WEEK'S
BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT
Crack On
Mark Kearney and Gus Scherwin, both originally from Dublin, Ireland, landed in Vancouver in 2011 and 2017, not knowing one another but similarly looking for a change from their lives back home. Mark comes from a sales and advertising background, but has always had an entrepreneurial spirit, wanting to create something he was more passionate about.
Gus did a professional culinary and pastry course in Northwest Culinary Academy when he first arrived in Vancouver and graduated to work in some of Vancouver’s best restaurants such as Ask for Luigi and Anh and Chi.
When the two lads crossed paths a couple of years ago, they never thought they'd be working side-by-side running a business together, but when the pandemic hit, they found themselves in similar positions and discovered a niche in the Vancouver food market - simply delicious egg sandwiches. From there, Crack On was born and formally opened in early 2021 after nearly a year of planning their new food truck concept.
Today, Gus runs the kitchen while Mark looks after the business side, and together, they bring Crack On to different neighborhoods in the greater Vancouver area, serving up sandwiches that are made up of locally sourced and handmade ingredients. Follow the big yellow truck on Instagram @crackonvan to see where they'll be next!
