CFD Waves project

We wanted to take a deepdive into our wave simulations. In this article we will compare the impact forces and wave shape of a single wave clashing against a wall with data from two different papers.

Both papers use different simulation methods for the liquid. One paper uses the Free surface Identification (FSID) numerical simulation code (non-linear 2D bi-fluid potential code developed by SLOSHEL JIP), the other paper uses the smooth particle hydrodynamics (SPH) method.

Amesim Software helping Project Dragonfly take off!

Project DragonFly is an applied research project of the research lab at Aeronautical & Precision Engineering @ Inholland Delft, the Netherlands. Their goal is to convert a small aircraft into an electrically propelled, battery-powered aircraft, to show that the existing technology for battery-electric-vehicles is capable of powering small aircraft.

The goal of this assignment was to set up a virtual model in Simcenter Amesim that can show the impact of individual components in the electric aircraft on the flight performance of the aircraft overall.

Ending Femap COVID-19 License

On March 20th 2020 Siemens began the distribution of a monthly node-lock Femap license including optional modules that was not tied to any one machine for all customers. This courtesy continued throughout the year to aid everyone as they navigated the reality of working from home.

After this year Siemens has decided that this program is now coming to an end. The final Femap work from home license has been extended until April 30, 2021 and is now available for download via GTAC. On April 30th the work from home license will expire and no additional license will be provided.

If you have been using the COVID-19 license to facilitate running Femap over Remote Desktop or other virtualized configurations, you will need to upgrade to a floating license in order to continue doing so; node-locked dongles do not support this configuration.

If you have some questions regarding the Femap licensing after the 30th of April. We advise you to contact your accountmanager (Sander Quirijns or Bastiaan Modderman) within Femto Engineering to explore the options.
