Hello from Missouri!
The snow and negative temperatures have finally left us, we hope for good! We have some exciting things to share about our life here in Bolivar.
A Little Bit From A.J.

Working in the Hangar
Since getting my A&P certificate I have been using it a lot. Getting put right into the swing of signing off on my own work. From oil changes, to 100hr inspections, It has definitely made me double double check the things I do. Knowing that I am the last one to look at the work and that it's my responsibility to make sure it gets done right. It is an amazing opportunity to continue to have such hands on experience, and the ability to use the skills I have learned to help out at SOAR and continue learning. We have a new apprentice that recently started at SOAR, it has been great to pass on what I have learned to Him.

Flying!
As the weather has gotten better this spring I have had more chances to fly! In the past month I passed 300 hours of total flight time! It is amazing to look back and see how much I have learned and the experience I have been able to build in 3 years!

I had the opportunity of flying to a grass airatrp in Arkansas. It was good ‘Soft field” landing practice, and a fun adventure.

From Stephanie :)

KLIFE

Spring is always a busy season for KLIFE, this one has been no different in that regard. A.J. and I continue to meet with our small groups of High School students, A.J. co-leads Sophomore boys and I co-lead Junior girls. We have also been able to mix our two groups together for a few events and enjoy dinner, games and group discussions. A.J. also has been leading a Dowload group (a small group of KLIFE leaders) which has been a wonderful way for us to invest in our fellow leaders as well as our students. Being able to bring our students and fellow leaders into our home and invest in them together as husband and wife has been one of my favorite things about being married in ministry.

Merge

A.J. and I also got to participate in a new event called Merge Week. This event was a joint effort between KLIFE and First Baptist Church of Bolivar. This was a Covid friendly week long event. Each night of the week a different grade 6th-12th had their own Merge night where they had a different game, dinner, worship and speaker to best fit their group. It also allowed us to reach a large number of students in a fun way but also keep our numbers at a safe operating number for COVID. This event was an adaptation from the Disciple Now that these two ministries normally host in the Spring. This was yet another way that we got to pivot and make the best of the season that we are living in. It was a great way to invest in our students, point them to the gospel and encourage them that they are not too young to be making disciples of Jesus.

At School

Coming back from winter break I received new reading groups and have enjoyed investing in a different group of students. The groups I work with are students who need a little extra instruction in reading or math. My groups range from 2-5 students which allows for that extra attention that some of them really need. It is so fun to see students grow and take off in their reading and math skills but can be difficult when growth is either slow or seemingly non existent. Regardless I love meeting with my students and have greatly enjoyed this opportunity. Due to the lack of substitute teachers in our district, I get the opportunity to fill in as a substitute as needed. Depending on the week that can greatly differ, this has helped me grow in my classroom management skills and has helped me get to know many more students.

Thats a little of what Life is like for us right now!

If you would be praying for us as we continue forward

  • For A.J. as he serves in the shop and continues his flight training.

  • We are also looking into taking some online Bible classes to help fulfill some of the requirements of the missions groups we might serve with. Please pray for us as we make these decisions.

  • That Stephanie continue to be flexible and willing to serve wherever needed at school and view subbing as a great opportunity to love on the students of her school and serve her coworkers.
  • Stephanie is looking for a classroom position for the coming school year, prayers that she will be willing to go where the Lord leads, that He would give her peace as she transitions and prepares a classroom.

  • That we would live out the Gospel to those around us and be bold as we disciple students through KLIFE. That our goal in KLIFE would be to point others to Jesus and to help them grow in their walk with Him and that we would continue to be intentional with what we are taking in. So that we can pour out Jesus to those we are serving and serve with.

If you are interested in hearing more about SOAR, what we do in Bolivar when I'm not working on airplanes and the relationships we have opportunities to build in the community here, please reach out! Give us a call, text or email, we would love to catch up and share more!

If you would like to be a part of what we are doing, the greatest thing you could do for us is to pray for us. Pray that the Lord would guide us, that his desires would be our desires, that we would live lives of humility and love for others. If you would like to financially partner with us there is a link below to a way you can do that.
