Welcome Liza Ryan as our newest
Emergency Department Recovery Coach!
Liza will be serving as a member of NCVRC's emergency department recovery coaching team at Copley Hospital, which you can learn more about here. She will also enhance NCVRC's partnerships in the community by providing critical services including recovery coaching, resource navigation and referrals, and harm reduction packs at offsite locations such as the GA hotels, the Lamoille Community House, Jenna's House, and other settings to provide support for people experiencing housing insecurity, mental health challenges, substance use, and more. Liza has served for four years as a member of the Turning Point Center of Chittenden County's ED recovery coaching team at UVMMC and is a licensed psychotherapist for the Institute for Trauma, Recovery and Resiliency/Vermont Center for Responder Wellness. We are proud to welcome Liza to our team and our community!

VSECU Members have awarded the North Central Vermont Recovery Center with $9,896 that will assist us in supporting our mission to provide a safe, non-judgemental, substance-free environment for individuals and families on their paths to lasting recovery from alcohol and drug addiction.
We Care 2 is a member-directed, giving program that distributes $50,000 in donation funds to five non-profit organizations that are seeking funding to positively impact Vermonters’ essential needs in the areas of food, shelter, heat, environment, or financial education.

Dear Friends, Neighbors, and Partners,
At this time we feel it is necessary to share that while there are always dangerous, potent, and harmful drugs in our community that threatens lives, right now there seems to be a particularly deadly batch of drugs in our community. Recent overdoses where we know Narcan from the recovery center was used in reversals have required an unusually large number of doses of Narcan, which often indicates the presence of fentanyl or carfentanil. These are drugs added into more common substances like heroin and contribute to about 88% of all overdose deaths. In the event of an overdose or other emergency, 911 should always be called, and anyone who administers Narcan is protected by the Good Samaritan Laws from any liability, regardless of the result. In a majority of cases where an overdose occurs, it is a bystander such as a family member or friend or a fellow user who is the first responder, and is in the best position to save a person's life in the first critical moments of distress. That's why it's important for as many of us as possible to carry Narcan as well as information on how someone can get help if they want.
In this spirit, the North Central Vermont Recovery Center has plentiful Narcan that we give out for free, anytime, with no questions asked! Simply stop by and ask a staff member for some.
