A Note To Our Supporters

I cannot thank you enough. I realize these words aren’t personal. I wish I had the time to send a note to each and every one of you who supports Thundering Paws in whatever way you can.

We will continue to follow the CDC guidelines, wearing masks, social distancing, and washing our hands. We use a powerful disinfectant which is known to kill coronavirus. It’s called “Rescue,” and it’s accelerated hydrogen peroxide.

When we are able to open our doors to volunteers again, we will inform people through the newsletter, our website, our Facebook page, everywhere we can.

Besides saving cats, and any other animal we can help, Thundering Paws saves people. It saved me. More than one volunteer has told me they were contemplating suicide before Thundering Paws gave them a purpose and filled them with hope.

My heart frequently overflows with gratitude. Thank you for almost 20 years.

HOW WE SUPPORT OUR FOSTER PEOPLE

They need our support, and they get it!

A foster’s car breaks down the morning of a vet appointment. We go get the kitty and take him to the vet.

A foster that has a week’s vacation scheduled. We find another foster or a pet sitter for the kitty.

“OMG! My sister is having her baby three weeks early! I’ve got to go help her!” We get that kitty outta there!

A foster gets a free ticket to go see his favorite niece graduate. We can pet sit, or we can transfer the kitty.

A pregnant foster kitty begins having kittens at 11 p.m. “I’ve never done this before! HELP!” We’re there.

And then there are the non emergencies: “This is weird looking. What do you think it is?” “My foster kitty is crying a lot. What should I do?” “She’s eating like a HORSE! Is this normal?” We discuss the symptoms or behaviors and the options. With close to 75 rescue-years among our crew, we may not have seen it all, but we’ve seen most of it.

We have a Facebook group for fosters to post pictures, ask questions, get and give information, to share silly and precious things our kitties are doing. We have a Foster Coordinator, three vet techs, drivers, and people who have been through the pain of the worst. We know how hard it is to send your baby off to his new home. We will NEVER leave our fosters hanging out to dry!

If you try fostering and it doesn’t work, we accept that. If you try fostering a particular kitty and she doesn’t work, we’ll try you again with someone else. It’s not like the Mafia: you can quit if you want, without consequences.

If you try fostering and you fall in love…sigh…we lost a foster. But we adopted out a kitty!

Think about it. We’re not taking on any new kitties until late May.
