People no longer need to “register” in advance of services (that is for Sunrise and the drive-in/hybrid at 11am…and the following weeks when we will have real in-person worship…but they must agree to the 4 questions on the poster below.

CUMC will be hosting an Easter Party for children, ages 4 - fifth grade, on Easter Morning at 10:00 a.m.
HOWEVER, this year you will need to register your child, grandchild, niece, nephew, or neighbor in advance, NO EXCEPTIONS by March 29, 2021:
Please email Jannette Clavez at care4cumc@gmail.com  with the following information:
How many children and their ages - we need to be prepared and provide a safe environment for all participating.

Most of our activities will be crafts, because we feel we can maintain safe distancing more consistently, this a brief list and description of what we have planned.
With the exception of the egg hunt, everything will be in the field.
(FYI in the past CUMC has been very generous with candy filled eggs - to be clear, each child will be allowed SIX EGGS - that is it.)

Canvas Paint Station – given 6 eggs filled with paint, in an egg carton
Each child will throw eggs at the canvas, one at a time.
Baptism Station – pouring water, disposable cup from a bucket into a kitty pool
New Life Station – plant seeds – disposable cup
Resurrection - make doily butterflies – paint, cloths pins (they will paint with disposable brushes or cotton balls)
Lamb of God – made from precut paper plates, cotton balls
Crosses – precut, paint, (they will paint with disposable brushes or cotton balls)
Egg Hunt – in the courtyard, one child at a time, they will fill the cartons they got earlier

Seder Recipes and information
Below are a few websites where you can find simple recipes for traditional kosher foods which might be eaten during the seder. You may desire to make a simple dish and eat it as part of the Seder on Thursday, April 1st at 7pm. We will not have time to do complete meals so consider something light.

Things that are good to know about Seder… (from Wikipedia, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passover_Seder_plate)ch
The Passover Seder plate (Hebrew: קערה, ke'ara) is a special plate containing symbolic foods eaten or displayed at the Passover Seder.
Significance
Each of the six items arranged on the plate has special significance to the retelling of the story of Passover—the exodus from Egypt—which is the focus of this ritual meal. A seventh symbolic item used during the meal—the three matzos—is not considered part of the seder plate proper.
Symbolic foods
Passover Seder plate. (with imaged examples in brackets):
1. Zeroa (shankbone)
2. Beitza (roasted hard-boiled egg)
3. Maror /Chazeret (horseradish)
4. Maror /Chazeret (onion)
5. Charoset
6. Karpas (parsley)

Maror and Chazeret
Maror and Chazeret – Bitter herbs symbolizing the bitterness and harshness of the slavery that the Hebrews endured in Egypt. In Ashkenazi tradition, fresh romaine lettuce or endives (both representing the bitterness of the Roman invasions) or horseradish may be eaten as Maror in the fulfilment of the mitzvah of eating bitter herbs during the Seder. Chazeret is additional bitter herbs, usually romaine lettuce, used in the korech sandwich.
Charoset
Charoset – A sweet, brown mixture representing the mortar and brick used by the Hebrew slaves to build the storehouses or pyramids of Egypt. In Ashkenazi Jewish homes, Charoset is traditionally made from chopped nuts, grated apples, cinnamon, and sweet red wine.
Karpas
Karpas – A vegetable other than bitter herbs representing hope and renewal, which is dipped into salt water at the beginning of the Seder. Parsley or another green vegetable.[1] Some substitute parsley to slice of green onion (representing the bitterness of slavery in Egypt) or potato (representing the bitterness of the ghetto in Germany and in other European countries), both commonly used. The dipping of a simple vegetable into salt water and the resulting dripping of water off of said vegetables visually represents tears and is a symbolic reminder of the pain felt by the Hebrew slaves in Egypt. Usually, in a Shabbat or holiday meal, the first thing to be eaten after the kiddush over wine is bread. At the Seder table, however, the first thing to be eaten after the kiddush is a vegetable. This leads immediately to the recital of the famous question, Ma Nishtana—"Why is this night different from all other nights?" It also symbolizes the springtime, because Jews celebrate Passover in the spring.
Zeroah
Zeroah – Also transliterated Z'roa, it is special as it is the only element of meat on the Seder Plate. Roasted chicken neck or shankbone; symbolizing the Paschal Lamb (Passover sacrifice), which was a lamb that was offered in the Temple in Jerusalem, then roasted and eaten as part of the meal on Seder night. Since the destruction of the Temple, the z'roa serves as a visual reminder of the Pesach sacrifice; it is not eaten or handled during the Seder. Vegetarians often substitute a beet, quoting Pesachim 114b as justification; other vegetarians substitute a sweet potato, allowing a "Paschal yam" to represent the Paschal lamb.
Beitzah
Beitzah – A roasted egg, symbolizing the korban chagigah (festival sacrifice) that was offered at the Temple in Jerusalem, then roasted and eaten as part of the meal on Seder night. Although both the Pesach sacrifice and the chagigah were meat offerings, the chagigah is commemorated by an egg, a symbol of mourning (as eggs are the first thing served to mourners after a funeral), evoking the idea of mourning over the destruction of the Temple and our inability to offer any kind of sacrifices in honor of the Pesach holiday. Since the destruction of the Temple, the beitzah serves as a visual reminder of the chagigah; it is not used during the formal part of the seder, but some people eat a regular hard-boiled egg dipped in salt water or vinegar as part of the first course of the meal, or as an appetizer.
Table set for the seder with a seder plate, salt water, matza, kosher wine and a copy of the Haggadah for each guest.
Three Matzot
The sixth symbolic item on the Seder table is a plate of three whole matzot, which are stacked and separated from each other by cloths or napkins. The middle matzah will be broken and half of it put aside for the afikoman. The top and another half of the middle matzot will be used for the hamotzi (blessing over bread), and the bottom matzah will be used for the korech (Hillel sandwich).
Salt water
A bowl of salt water, which is used for the first "dipping" of the Seder, is not traditionally part of the Seder Plate but is placed on the table beside it. However, it sometimes is used as one of the six items, omitting chazeret.

Meals on Wheels Update
King’s Grant Presbyterian Church on Little Neck Road is now the new location for Meals on Wheels. Volunteers need to know that the new pickup time is 10:30 AM. They have been extremely accommodating and even provide an office. Chef by Design prepares the meals and they presently serve 140 people. Missions & Service Update
JCOC needs your help. The volunteer Coordinator at JCOC, Krishna Loya, put a request on Charity Tracker that they need underwear and toiletries for the homeless. Since there are various sizes needed, they would greatly appreciate a monetary donation in order to fill individual needs.  You may do that using their web site (jcoc.org) or mailing a check to the JCOC, 1053 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA 23451.
To make a donation online go to jcoc.org and find Donation Information: select the amount you want to give, then select one time or recurring donation, and finally on the drop-down menu find Toiletries and Underwear. Your money will be put to good use!
Thank you for helping to serve those in need.
