DEAR CRAG SUPPORTERS

Thanks so much to everyone who has already bought tickets for this Sunday's tea concert 'The Road Goes On', a wonderful gift to CRAG from our very talented Charlbury-born singer/songwriter Jenny Mahler (aka Jenny Larsen).

If you would like to come along but haven't bought your ticket yet, you can buy one at any time until 3pm on Sunday from crag-concert.eventbrite.co.uk for £5 per household (plus a booking fee of 98p).

Once you've bought your online ticket, you will be sent a link to view the concert and you'll receive email reminders nearer the time.

All proceeds from the concert will be sent by CRAG directly to The Hope Project, established in 2015 by Eric and Philippa Kempson, long-time residents of Lesvos, to meet the needs of refugees who started arriving in large numbers on the island. Government and international agencies responded only slowly and inadequately to the crisis that unfolded and so local initiatives emerged, of which the Hope Project was one. The organisation has grown over the years and has stepped back from providing front line aid to arriving refugees. It has rented four warehouses close to the refugee camps in the south of Lesvos.

Since 2017 it has worked from a distribution warehouse, where volunteers serve approximately 30 families a day with the items they may need: hygiene, nappies, clothes, shoes, blankets and other items donated to or bought by the project.

The organisation also runs an arts project that focuses on fostering the artistic talents of refugees through performing arts and other art-based programs: music, poetry, theatre and dance alongside painting, ceramics, and photography.

It also has Safe Places for women in one warehouse, with a beauty salon, a gym and an arts and craft centre, where women can come together and be at ease while being with each other and socialising in a ‘normal’ environment.

It also runs a tailor shop for any alterations needed by those served at the Distribution Centre - hemming, taking in, etc - as well as a Men’s Barber Shop.
