March is a month we have springing into action to serve our community and keep promises as neighbors. This doesn’t just help each of us love Indianapolis more every day, but also allows our city to make a great impression as events and conferences start to return to downtown.
On March 19th we partnered with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, the Indianapolis Cultural Trail, the City of Indianapolis, and Indiana Sports Corp as a Circle City Beauty Booster.
The 38th & Sheridan team: Harmon Construction, construction subcontractors joined Cook Medical, Goodwill Commercial Services, and neighbors from the community around 38th and Sheridan to beautify the city in preparation for the basketball tournaments coming to Indianapolis.
Everyone in attendance received basketball swag bags celebrating the historic events returning to Downtown Indy.

Marion County Construction Pre-Job & Job Fairs

In April,  we are hosting free pre-job and job fairs for skilled trade workers and those interested in making a career change to the construction industry.

Both events are hosted at Him By Her School, 4501 E 32nd Street, Indianapolis, IN, 46218.

  • Pre-Job Fair: April 10, 1-3pm
  • Job Fair: April 17, 1-3pm

The opportunities for construction professionals in Marion County have never been more plentiful and rewarding. Did you know construction has been the fastest-growing industry sector in Indianapolis for the last five years? Yes, our trades are growing more than healthcare and tech. March Speaking Engagements & Sponsorships

Lastly, The Darden Group was humbled this month to make our first corporate sponsorship of the International Women's Day Event with Pass the Torch for Women. In addition, I was invited to several speaking engagements I want to highlight:
I was humbled and honored to be included in Jack and Jill Inc's 2021 Tri-State Children’s Cluster. This year's theme was Everyday Heroes: Continuing Our Legacy of Transforming Ordinary to Extraordinary. We inspired our young heroes of the future through fun and engaging activities in construction, architecture, the arts and more!
I was also deeply gratified to spend two days facilitating an event for MBE, WBE, DBE, and VBE professionals and partner firms, to learn more about navigating the solicitation process of various Indianapolis organizations.

Day 1 featured a panel discussion between our hosts, the Indianapolis Airport Authority, as well as IndyGo, INDOT, the City of Indianapolis, and the Indianapolis Public Library about how to connect with their business opportunities.

Day 2 featured a discussion on authentic good faith efforts and the do's and don'ts of an effective commitment to diversity.

Thank you to everyone who empowered us to "spring forward" this month. We are so grateful for our community and the amazing opportunities in Indianapolis for all construction trades.

Sincerely,

Akilah Darden
