Vaccine Distribution Update from Canaveral Fire Rescue

Canaveral Fire Rescue began distributing COVID-19 vaccines in our community last week! This 3-day operation successfully delivered over 60 vaccines to Florida residents. This clinic was the result of months of planning and was a collaboration between the Brevard County Emergency Operations Center, the Brevard County Health Department, Canaveral Fire Rescue and the City of Cape Canaveral. We love working with our community and helping to provide life saving vaccines to those in need.

Depending on vaccine availability, Canaveral Fire Rescue plans to continue these weekly clinics; hopefully administering an increasing number of COVID-19 vaccines to eligible Florida residents at drive-thru, appointment-only timeslots.
  • To be added to the appointment waiting list, please call (321) 868-1204
    • Please leave your name and phone number CLEARLY. Your name will automatically be added to a waiting list for an appointment on a first come first serve basis, please do not call multiple times.
    • When a timeslot becomes available, a representative will contact you to book your appointment.
    • Please note that due to limited number of vaccines, being added to this waiting list is not a guarantee you will receive a vaccine.
    • Please continue to exhaust all other options to secure the vaccine for yourself.
    • If you have already left your name and phone number for the Wait List you are ON the list. Once we have secured doses of the vaccine, we will call you to schedule a date and time to administer your vaccine.
  • Proof of Florida Residency is required
    • All clients must provide identification
    • Individuals with an out-of-state ID should also provide proof of residency or semi-permanent residency (examples: utility bill, property tax receipt, lease agreement for Florida property, etc.)

    • NEW: Persons 40 years of age and older and 18+ starting 4/5/21

Sustainability

SustainaWhat? Webisode 3: Sea Turtle Showcase
Sea Turtle Lighting

The City of Cape Canaveral is home to an abundance of wildlife, including three native species of sea turtles: the loggerhead, the leatherback and the green turtle. All three of these species are endangered or threatened, which is why we ask residents and visitors to take special precautions during sea turtle nesting season, which began on March 1 and runs to October 31.

There are plenty of ways you can help save the sea turtles all year long whether or not you’re at the beach!

  • Level sandcastles and fill in holes before you head home – little flippers cannot overcome these obstacles!
  • Take all your trash from the beach before you leave.
  • Do not disturb nesting sea turtles, hatchlings or sea turtle eggs.
  • Skip the straw at restaurants or bars.
  • Never deliberately release balloons, especially near coastal regions or other bodies of water.
  • Pack groceries in reusable bags, and bypass plastic carryout bags whenever possible.
  • Invest in a reusable water bottle.
  • Adhere to local beach-facing light ordinances – in Cape Canaveral: Lights Out @ 9 p.m. May 1 – October 31

For more information about sea turtles please visit the City’s sea turtle webpage.
