So long, Shelia Malcolm!

Five years ago, Southpoint was blessed to gain a new member who would eventually become a key leader in our Prayer Ministry and Young Adult Ministry and for nearly a year, was a member of the PR Team. Sister Shelia Malcolm came to Southpoint and immediately made her mark with her effervescent smile, positive attitude and willingness to work! To the Southpoint family, she has been a mentor, sister, friend, coach, prayer warrior, actress, praise partner and a dedicated member of "the Jamaican delegation"! On April 4, Sister Shelia will be leaving Jacksonville, but before she leaves, we just wanted to let her know how much we love and appreciate her multiple gifts she has shared with us, and we pray that her next assignment will prove to be an even greater opportunity to share the love of Christ with all those she encounters. We will miss your beautiful smile, Sister Shelia, but know that you will always be a part of the Southpoint family! God bless you!

COMMUNION SERVICE
Our next communion service will be held on Sabbath, April 3 during worship service in the sanctuary.  For families who would like to participate in the communion service virtually, it will be live streamed and we will be offering pre-made sealed communion service kits (juice & bread) that can be picked up at the church on Sabbaths, March 20 and 27. During the week, they will be available for pick up on Mondays - March 22 and 29  from 11am to 3pm; Fridays - March 26 and April 2, from 9am to 11am.

How to prepare for communion?

  1. Examine yourself to see if you are in sin, either a known sin or perhaps something you are unaware of. This means to pause to consider your life. How are you treating the people close to you? How are you treating those in the congregation? With indifference? With selfishness? With disrespect?
  2. Confess any sins, known sin or sins that God brings to mind as you are examining yourself.
  3. Repent of these sins and resolve to take immediate steps to correct your actions or make amends, if you are able.
  4. Accept God's forgiveness. This time of self-reflection and repentance is not to give Satan permission to continually beat you up over sins of the past. Accept and believe in God's promises of forgiveness. We don't look backward -- our sins have been forgiven. We look forward to living with God the day ahead of us.

"For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes" (1 Corinthians 11:26).

RELATIONSHIPS IN 2021
How are you doing, in terms of your relationships? The song says: "People who need people are the luckiest people in the world!" God's plan doesn't involve luck, but He's got a pretty good plan for YOUR personal life, and it includes your relationships! Come, bring your lunch and join us for our Young Adults Seminar as we go through Tommy Nelson's study on "Song of Solomon: God's Best for Love, Marriage, Sex and Romance" this Sabbath, March 27, from 1:30pm- 2:30pm in the Fellowship Hall. Bring a friend!

CHURCH PICNIC

Come one, come all to the annual Southpoint Church Picnic held on Easter Sunday, April 4 at Southpoint! Measures will be made to practice social distancing, but we will still have a good time of food, fun and fellowship! Be sure to go to the Southpoint SDA Church Facebook page to weigh in on if you prefer a meat or vegetarian lunch, no later than Tuesday, March 30. Looking forward to seeing you all there!

FOOD PANTRY
Be assured that this video was taken BEFORE COVID! Our pantry workers and the food recipients truly miss the personal touch they receive as part of this ministry. "Christ’s method alone will give true success in reaching the people. The Savior mingled with people as one who desired their good. He showed sympathy for them, ministered to their needs, and won their confidence. Then He invited them, “Follow Me.” (Ministry of Healing, p. 143)

Food distribution on Mondays - please do not arrive before 5:00 pm, drive-thru food distribution begins at 6:00pm. On Fridays - please do not arrive before 12:00pm, drive-thru food distribution begins at 1:00pm.

Volunteers are needed on Fridays, 9am to 12 noon and noon to 4pm. We also need volunteers that can drive on Wednesday mornings to do pick up for food. If you are interested, please contact Tina Ephraim, 904-476-3462.

PRAYER MINISTRY
"God has established prayer as the means by which we receive his supernatural help. And without supernatural help, we cannot live a life worthy of the gospel. Everything that distinguishes Christians from the world in a Christ-exalting way is a work of God’s supernatural grace. And God has ordained that this grace flows to us through prayer." (www.desiringgod.org)

Enter your Prayer Requests on the church website and our prayer warriors will pray for you! Experience the power of your church family praying on your behalf. The Prayer Ministry Team also has a prayer call for anyone wanting special prayer every Sabbath.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"Life doesn't always introduce you to the people you want to meet. Sometimes life puts you in touch with the people you need to meet - to help you, to hurt you, to leave you, to love you and to gradually strengthen you into the person you were meant to become."  - Anonymous
