Dear Families,

Yesterday I wrote to staff as I have been reflecting on how this week marks one year since our community made a huge pivot to distance learning in response to the growing threat of COVID.  Below is a snippet of what I shared with them:

"St. Patrick's Day has always meant a lot to me as a Catholic and as a person of Irish descent.  This year, there is another layer added to the significance of this day.

One year ago today, we were meeting as a staff, figuring out how we were going to shift from full in-person learning, to full distanced learning, after Governor Walz had made the extraordinary announcement less than 48 hours earlier.

We had one day to say goodbye to our students, and had no idea that it would mean for several months--for some students, we haven't seen them in person since.

We only had enough technology for one piece of hardware per household.  We had to completely and quickly rethink instruction and access to learning.

Our classrooms became an eerie and lonely Pompeii after this day last year.

Our prek and extended day heroically continued to serve our families who were essential workers.

We as educators have had to adapt and transform in so many ways over the past year, and I couldn't think of a better team to experience this with.

Thank you for your amazing commitment, grace and flexibility.  I always knew we had an amazing staff, and the way everyone has stepped up to the unending challenges and opportunities over the past year is simply inspiring."

I share this with you because I want to express my strong conviction that your students are in such good hands when they are at Community of Saints.  We are truly committed to your child(ren).

I also want to thank you, our school families.  We have felt supported by so many of you, and have experienced strong partnership in serving your child(ren) during these hard times.  As always, we are in this together.  It is an honor to serve your family, and we do so through the values of faith, inclusivity and love.
Friendly Reminders

School Start Time
--This is a reminder that our school day starts at 8:30am.  It is extremely important for students to consistently be on time so they can start their day with routine and structure along with the rest of their classmates.  Additionally, our classroom days begin with morning meetings and important community building/social-emotional learning skill building.  This is an essential part of the whole person experience that we provide.

School Calendar--A reminder that because we are fully back in person, please treat our school calendar as such.  All Wednesdays will be full distance learning days for grades 2-8--we are currently not following the hybrid adjustments that were made earlier in the year.  Example: Wednesday, March 24th is marked as a Group B day--however, as we are fully back in person, the 24th will be a full distance day, and the 22nd, 23rd, and 25th will be full in person learning days.

Wednesdays--While grades 2-8 are not physically in the building on Wednesdays, they are important academic, spiritual and social-emotional learning days.  Students need to log in on Wednesdays and actively participate in their class schedules.  Curriculum and instruction does not pause on these days, and not engaging in learning on Wednesdays has an impact on students' progress and growth.

The purpose of Lent is to set aside time for reflection on Jesus Christ--to prepare for his death on Good Friday and resurrection on Easter. Lent is a time to focus on the three disciplines of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.  Below are some lenten videos and activities for families to use over the next few weeks.

Enrollment 2021-22 School Year

Our early enrollment period is underway for the 2021-22 school year.

Enrollment for current K-7 students

You do not need to do anything at this time.  Current K-7 students fall under our continuous enrollment process. Continuous enrollment means once a student enrolls at Community of Saints, we assume the student will remain at the school through 8th grade unless a family tells us otherwise. The vast majority of Community of Saints families re-enroll from year-to-year and continuous enrollment simplifies that process – no forms or due dates!
