We have some great prizes for the first 10 people who share a photo to our event page on Sunday. Plus, there will be other spot prizes throughout the day just for commenting on any event posts.

What have the ADSA planned for WDSD this Sunday?

We've been working hard behind the scenes to make sure everyone can join in the fun this Sunday – even if it’s from the comfort of your couch. We’ll be starting the day at 8.00am by sharing our wonderful photo montage showcasing our ADSA families. A big thank you to all those members who sent in photos and videos. As well as member photos, the montage includes lots of photos from ADSA events and get-togethers.

👉 Join our Facebook online event (fun and free)»

👍  Please ‘Like’ our montage and share it to your own Facebook page and groups

Are there any public events we can attend?

Yes! A couple of events have been organised; there is going to be a Dance Party at Orewa Reserve and a BYO Picnic Lunch with outdoor games in Waiuku (click on the posters below). Further details and coverage will be on our event page»

If you are planning something that might appeal to others, please share it there too.

What if I am staying around home on Sunday?

We would love for you to join in the fun ONLINE. You can share some photos of your personal challenges whether you have:
  • completed 21 days of yoga or exercise
  • spent the last 21 days learning a new skill
  • baked 21 cupcakes
...or anything else! And if you just want to see what other members have been up to, we will have poems and messages from some of our adult members with Down syndrome, a book giveaway, members and supporters sharing their 21-day challenges, and links to our external partners' WDSD celebrations.

❗ Watch our RAFFLE DRAW at 2.00pm on Sunday where we will announce our seven lucky prize winners.

Don’t forget to Rock Your Socks!

Wearing crazy, colourful or mismatched socks is a simple, fun and effective way to bring awareness to people with Down syndrome. The word on the grapevine is that there are several schools and workplaces taking part by rocking their socks this Friday. We would love to see some photos! Share them straight to our event page or send them to communications@adsa.org.nz and we’ll post them online for you.

Are any other organisations celebrating WDSD?

Absolutely! Worldwide organisations, and families and supporters of people with Down syndrome will also be celebrating. The New Zealand Down Syndrome Association (NZDSA) would love you to join them for the BIG CONNECT event, the largest ever Down syndrome zoom video call. This will be happening the day before WDSD (20 March) at 5.00pm. Event details here»

The UpsideDowns Education Trust want you to help them celebrate the achievements of their 100 runners, walkers, and swimmers who have been making their way collectively and virtually around NZ to raise funds and awareness for kids with Down syndrome. We’ll be sharing their prizegiving via video or you might want to go join in the fun yourself at the Albert's Post Bar + Eatery from 3.00pm on Sunday. Event details here»
