Wind of changes 🌬

We are starting the spring season 2021 with great news!

FloatingEKA started its journey as an art project on a boat, but the pandemic made us adapt, adjust, and reconsider many things. We spent months trying to find the best solutions and finally managed to broaden our vision. Now we are The Floating EKA Foundation, whose mission is

💛  to develop the creative potential of people, communities, and companies,

💛  to launch and support cultural projects in the Baltic Sea Region,

💛  and to promote the best practices of cultural management.

In February we did a lot of truly interesting and exciting things:

✔️ launched a new project about the cultural identity of people around the Baltic Sea together with our partners from Sweden, Poland, and Russia.

✔️started a series of Facebook Live talks with artists and creative project managers. Every month we will discuss their life hacks on creating and managing art projects. Do not miss a chance to get inspired!

✔️tested a new model of Patron calls. Now Patrons can boost their inspiration on the monthly art workshops with invited artists. Part of the funds raised on Patreon is going to support the artists, who faced a difficult time during the pandemic.

EVENTS CALENDAR

Next month

💛 Join a workshop "How to play a site-specific performance without leaving your own house?" by Oleg Khristolyubskii, a freelance theater director. He likes to experiment with the interaction between actors and the audience, exploring opportunities of game design and combining new technologies in different theatre forms. Workshop participants will learn what is site-specific, what are different types of it and will take part in an experimental performance directed online by Oleg himself!

  • Sunday, March 28, at 5 pm GMT (available for Patrons with 9 Euro and 25 Euro subscription on Patreon)

💛 Take your chance to learn about Acting for Climate, a physical art project for planet earth, with the goal of involving everybody interested in arts and environmentalism. During Facebook Live we will talk about the experience of artists collaborating with scientists, how the pandemic challenges art projects, and the ways they adapt to the circumstances, finally how Acting for Climate handles the horizontal leadership approach in their company.

  • Join Facebook live on Sunday, April 18, at 5 pm GMT

In case you missed it

🎨 Last month our patrons became theatre actors during the workshop “Cantastoria: What we miss the most during the pandemic?” by Noah Harrell. All participants shared and illustrated their missing feelings, from hugs to dancing till dawn in the crowd. Magic happened - Cantastoria removed all the pandemic borders in one play! A recording of the performance is available on Patreon.

🎥 Samuel Faucherre, captain of Hawila and co-founder of the Hawila Project, joined our Facebook Live and gave a little excursion to the ship, told us how he made the first steps in his project, and where he got the first funding and inspiration. Check out the recording here.

NEWS IN SHORT
💛 FloatingEKA is growing not only in its' ambitions and number of activities but also in size. This month we have welcomed 2 new communication interns, who will help FloatingEKA to become brighter on social media.
Aya will be helping out with the Facebook group and Instagram page. Watch out for some exciting news and interactive posts! Aya graduated from the Kyiv Academy of Creative Arts and is now living in Kyrgyzstan but plans to relocate to Montenegro soon.
Yana will be working on the monthly newsletters and will help with launching our Telegram channel (more news to follow). She studied Events Management, but, thanks to the pandemic, has switched her attention to social media and digital activities. Yana is based in Moscow, Russia.

💛 We are happy to announce that we have received the Tilda Grant for NGOs. The grant covers an annual subscription for the service. It may seem like a small step, but we feel very excited to redirect saved funds to further development of the FloatingEKA projects.

💛 It was a challenge but we made it! Facebook gave us permission to have a button 'Donate'. Now those who watch our Lives from Europe and the US or just visit our page can make a donation right away. If you are one of them, you can also start a fundraising campaign in support of FloatingEKA, what, we think, is always a good idea. 🙂

💛 Don't forget about our cool Telegram sticker pack. You can always find it here.
As a non-profit art project, we are only as successful as the support we receive. Thank you so much for supporting us!

Yours,
Polina and Olesya
