Webinar 21st March

Exciting news about the next online course ‘Language Teaching for the Planet’

Free mini-course

Here’s a typical scene in class. It’s the start of the lesson and you’re feeling excited about the environmental theme you’ve planned to teach. You start by setting some lead-in questions as pairwork. A minute later someone yells: Teacher! Finished! You immediately know it’s going to be a hard hour.
A quick microwriting activity might just create a much more positive and fruitful start to that environmental lesson. When you set some questions, give your students one minute to think about their answers, and another two minutes to write a few sentences on a scrap of paper (or in the chat box). Collect the papers and set them off on the task in pairs. You’ll probably find they have a lot more to say, plus lots of examples of the types of language and ideas they’re coming up with.
