An Important Zoom Marketing Presentation to Attend

If you love dance like I love dance, you'll want everyone you know, and some you don't, to come out and have fun with us.  Please, anyone who can attend the following Zoom marketing presentation, do so.  The more dancers we have trying to 'spread the word' the better.  The following is the information the Publicity Committee has received.

Here are 2 options to join this marketing presentation - March 18th at 1 or March 21 at 1 and the Zoom links are below.

You don't want to miss this...
Participant information:

Using the following internet link, join either Zoom Marketing Presentation Meeting—1 pm Thursday March 18 or 1 pm Sunday March 21:

https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89321471586
Meeting ID: 893 2147 1586

Please identify yourself by typing in your name and location before entering the “meeting room.”

The following points should help you get the most out of the Zoom experience:

Your computer device and connecting to the system

The use of a laptop with built-in camera and microphone serves to be one of the best methods of participating in a Zoom session, although it can be done just on a smartphone (prop it up close to you). Be sure to turn up the sound to a comfortable volume.

If you haven’t connected to Zoom before, after clicking on the link, the system should prompt you for permission to load some simple software.

Note that it is possible to participate by telephone only. See a link below by which you can find a local dial-in number.

Your picture, sound and lighting

If you have computer equipment lacking a camera or microphone, you can still participate. Your name will show in place of an image. You'll still be able to see and hear all the participants, as long as your computer sound is turned up. Without a microphone, you can simply type in your comments during the session via the "chat" mode.

Also, if you have a camera, you can participate without activating it. The opening screen will give you that choice. If you don’t want to be seen on camera, the system will just show your name in your respective viewing window. If you want to upload a photo, that’s an option.

Try not to sit too far away from your device in order to hear well and be heard clearly when you speak. It’s best to locate in a room that’s quiet, with sound-absorbent surfaces like carpeting and drapes. Hard surfaces such as perhaps found in a kitchen tend to create ambient noise or echo.

Position your device’s camera to focus upon you at eye level—not too high or too low. Try to “compose” your image by sitting close in a way that people see from the top of your head to about the breast pocket. Two persons should sit close enough for a well-framed “two-shot.”

A softer “wash” of light aimed at you helps to illuminate you adequately. Try to avoid bright backgrounds such as a window exposing outside light.

Communicating During a Zoom Session

During casual Zoom sessions, you can either activate or “mute” your microphone with a click-on/click-off microphone icon, usually found at bottom left screen. Some participants hold down their keyboard “spacebar” when they want to talk, otherwise their microphone is muted.

That will be handled differently during the upcoming March 18 & 21 B.C. Federation Zoom marketing sessions. The reason is that a large number of participants are expected, so having all sound sources active would be confusing. The meeting host has control overall and can engage certain restrictions.

Instead, all microphones except those of the presenters will be muted by the host, both during the presentation and during the subsequent question and answer period.

You will be directed to pose your questions through the “chat” feature where you type in the question directed at the host who will, in turn, ask your question to the presenter. That maintains an orderly process. The host might actually engage a “closed chat,” where you can only direct your chat message to the host or co-host, not as in standard usage where you can message specific individuals or everyone participating.

Viewing Fellow Zoom Participants

One Zoom viewing screen option you to see all participants at once in “gallery view.” When many persons are involved, there will be directional arrows that let you scroll horizontally to see other grouped participants. The option most used is “speaker view,” where the person speaking appears in a larger window while others show in smaller ones.

Furthermore, an icon for “participants” allows you to see a list of all involved in the session.

Telephone Participation

To join a Zoom session by telephone, find your local dial-in number for these particular sessions only at the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/u/kdVwHUpZLP

Thank you for participating in this very valuable session!
