BitPerfect’s Richard Murison has curated the new sampler album BitPerfect Collection Vol. 1 “Adagio” especially for NativeDSD Music.

”What I hope I have created here, is a listening experience characterized by the mood of an Adagio, but without its constituent parts being strictly Adagios in their own right. I may have succeeded in that. Or I may not. But if you find the selection enjoyable, that’s good enough for me. BitPerfect Sound Inc. is a Montreal-based consulting software company operating mostly in the field of digital audio. The company develops its own software products, as well as collaborating with established names in the high-end audio scene and beyond. For NativeDSD Music, BitPerfect has developed a unique and quite novel method for converting DSD to PCM FLAC files. BitPerfect feels that they are with no loss of fidelity that can be detected either by ear or by measurement. Most notably, these conversions have zero phase distortion, which, for the first time, enables customers whose equipment cannot play DSD to enjoy these albums in high quality PCM FLAC sound.

Higher Rates Program (HRP) was developed and launched in 2019 by the NativeDSD Music team. We create higher DSD bitrates of albums for our listener’s musical enjoyment. These higher bitrate editions are created using two different sets of professional recording and mastering tools methods: Merging Technologies “MECO” modulators in the Pyramix 12 digital audio workstation software, and Signalyst’s “EC” modulators and DSD professional software tools including HQ Player Pro. The process used depends on the original edited master source of the album and which higher DSD bitrate(s) are to be created. Read more.

The BitPerfect & Higher Rates Program processes have now both finished for the 12 Albums from which the tracks on the BitPerfect Sampler Album derive. To invite you to give (new) editions a try, we are running a 15% special on all of the editions of those 12 albums.

So far, this has been a collaboration between Richard Murison (BitPerfect), NativeDSD’s Mastering Engineer Tom Caulfield (Higher Rates Program) and Channel Classics (giving Richard a carte-blanche to choose and work with their catalog).

However, while the Sampler Album was curated and created, the program kept running. Today, NativeDSD has over 1,300 Albums are available in 24 bit FLAC 96 kHz and FLAC 192 kHz!

“In 1981, when I was four years old, Maestro Josef Palenicek gave a recital in the Czech town of Teplice where I lived with my parents at that time. Since he had been my mother’s piano teacher at the Prague Music Academy and their relationship had deepened and warmed throughout the years, he accepted my mother’s offer to stay at our house. That evening was to be an unforgettable and influencing moment in my life.

While I was sitting on the maestro’s lap we shared our soup from the same bowl. After that I took him to my room and showed off my entire wardrobe. Finally we wound up singing and playing at the piano all evening. Completely enchanted I decided that the piano would be the instrument which was going to make me happy -not the violin that I had just started playing, following my father’s path. And that was the case in the following six years until I had to admit that apparently I lacked the necessary perseverance to become a really good pianist. When I was eleven – my family had just moved to Prague – I reconsidered for the third time and this decision should finally be the lucky one: I started playing the cello, taking lessons from Maestro Palenicek’s youngest son, Jan Palenicek.

Two years later I accompanied my mother to a rehearsal at Maestro Palenicek’s home where they practiced for a concert, he playing the piano and my mother singing. After they finished rehearsing he looked at me and said with a smile in his eyes: “I heard you are now playing the cello. I have composed numerous pieces for that beautiful instrument. Maybe one day you will be playing my music. But until then you will have to practice a lot.”
