Veteran LED Is Now VLED

Veteran LED has been focused on lighting and controls as the core of our business since October 2016. Our original name has a special place in our hearts and will remain on our branded products and at our online store.

Through the years, our professional services team has evolved to provide more energy and environmental consulting. To reflect our full range of services, we’ve updated our brand to better align with our services and capabilities as a veteran-owned company.

We’ll always have a passion for, and vast experience in, lighting and controls. But we’re excited to announce our new brand and capabilities as VLED. Our expansion and growth is possible only with your continued support, including our beloved veteran community.

Breathing Easier
[What You Need to Consider for Healthier Indoor Air]

My daughter has a few years till kindergarten, but I’ve been closely following the return-to-school conversations in my community and working to help get students back to in-person learning.

Our company is located in Richmond, VA, where families who live only miles apart are in completely different situations.

Some students have been in class for months, some recently returned (in part with Germicidal Ultraviolet Light) — and others still don’t know when they’ll see their friends and teachers in person again.

Among the biggest challenges is indoor air quality.

As an industry professional, you’re well aware of the new conversations happening about making buildings healthier — whether they’re offices, retail stores, gyms, restaurants or senior care centers.

For school systems, decisions come with red tape, financial challenges, political considerations and family concerns. But there’s also a learning curve for a lot of the people responsible for those decisions.

I thought it would be helpful to highlight three areas to think about when it comes to indoor air quality: Ventilation, Filtration and Purification.

Please share our new episode with anyone you think might find the conversation useful. It’s also relevant for people outside of school settings who are trying to get a handle on what to consider as we reopen.

The CDC recently offered these new guidelines you might find helpful: “Ventilation in Schools and Childcare Programs: How to Use CDC Building Recommendations in Your Setting.”

As always, please let me know if my team and I can answer any questions about energy efficiency, LED lighting or our Germicidal UV and air quality solutions.

New Case Study: Common House

We recently enjoyed completing a project for Common House, a private events venue and coworking space in Richmond, VA. We appreciate Clayton Poff and his team for working with us.

Thank you Common House for entrusting us to develop air quality solutions for you and for taking additional steps to invest in your employees and members alike. [Common House exterior image from CommonHouse.com.]

Hyattsville Takes Action

More municipalities are discovering the benefits of round-the-clock air purification — and how our solutions help improve their public indoor spaces.

The city of Hyattsville, in Prince George’s County, MD, asked us to install our multilevel systems to fight viruses with Germicidal Ultraviolet Light, Air Ionization and MERV 13 Filtration

We appreciated the opportunity to install our systems in the city’s municipal and public works buildings, as well as its Magruder Park Recreation Center.
3 Power Moves
  1. In Virginia, there’s $43 million to spend— with more on the way from its participation in an 11-state Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative. Energy efficiency advocates are pushing to prioritize “weatherization, a set of improvements to a building that cut down on energy waste and consequently tend to lower electric bills.”

  2. The animated LED light fins illuminating Cincinnati’s new soccer stadium are creating a stir and gaining fans in the city.

  3. Centura College in Norfolk, VA, welcomed its first class of students who want to become certified wind turbine technicians: “With more than 5 gigawatts of wind power literally on its horizon, the first-of-its-kind training is a piece of Virginia’s endeavor to become an industry hub. Students learn classroom and hands-on lessons at the Centura campus in Norfolk and two of its for-profit “sister” colleges — Tidewater Tech and the Aviation Institute of Maintenance.”
