MESSAGE FROM OUR NEW POLICE CHIEF
By Chief Troy Bergstrom

Hello Stoneridge residents –
My name is Troy Bergstrom and I was recently named your next Police Chief. I’ve worked in law enforcement for 26 years with the past 21 years served here with the City of Roseville. Prior to assuming the role as Chief, I oversaw the Services Division within the Department.

At Roseville PD, we fully understand that our connection to you, our residents, is the true strength in our ability to keep our community safe. We often talk about how “it’s just different in Roseville” and that difference is the connection we have with our neighbors, businesses, and residents. That connection is why Roseville continues to be named one of the best places to live in the United States.

We should all recognize though, no community is immune to crime. One of the ways we can all work together to keep crime rates low in our City is to report suspicious activity by calling 916-774-5000 or submitting a crime tip here. We encourage you to call anytime something seems out-of-place in your neighborhood. This might be a suspicious person lurking or a suspicious vehicle driving slowly in front of your neighbors open garage door. You know your neighborhood the best and can recognize when something seems odd.

Along with reporting suspicious activity, I strongly encourage you to report illegal activity that affects the quality of life in your neighborhood. Through our website you can Report a Traffic Concern if you have ongoing issues with speeders. If you have an issue with an abandoned vehicle or an RV or car parked on the street for too long, those can also be reported on our website, here.

Our commitment to keep our community safe goes beyond just the Police Department and includes all of our residents…you can do your part by staying informed about what is happening in your city and your neighborhood. We encourage you to sign up for our Public Safety News Alerts here, as well as follow us on Facebook and Twitter to see current incidents, crime trends, and crime prevention news.

I’m honored to be Roseville’s 17th Chief of Police and look forward to serving with the hard working men and women of the Police Department. Each day I come to work I’m grateful to work alongside dedicated professionals who have a commitment to our community. Stay informed and stay engaged.

HARRY CRABB PARK "WEED" UPDATE
By Tara Gee

The City is working hard to control the weed problem with the special grass that has been planted for the sports fields.  It is a slow process, but with the warmer weather they are slowly seeing the weeds die back and new grass is growing. The nights are still colder than ideal, so it's slow going.

HOW DOES YOUR GARDEN GROW IN ROSEVILLE?

Since the pandemic started, more and more families have been planting their own home gardens.  The local nurseries have been busy and doing well during this pandemic.  The fruit and vegetable seed sales are jumping worldwide.

Furloughed workers and people working from home are also looking for activities to occupy their free time.  Parents too are turning to gardening as an outdoor activity to do with their children that are at home while schools were shut down. It is a fun way to get the whole family out in the fresh air and sunshine and away from their electronic devices.

People around the world and right here in our backyards are turning to gardening as a family friendly hobby.  Something we can do here in Roseville, CA is to start your own family vegetable garden if you have not done that already or a community garden.  This would allow your families to have healthy options and also help out a neighbor with some fresh vegetables.

Community Gardens are more than just a great place to cultivate fruits and vegetables. They serve as spaces to cultivate social support and emotional well-being.

Growing a vegetable garden is a great way to bring fresh, nutritious veggies to your table. Knowing where you food comes from is just a benefit of home vegetable gardening. The vitamin content will be at their highest levels as you bite into them straight from your garden.

You’ll also save money by buying less from the grocery store. A packet of seeds can cost less than a dollar, and if you buy heirloom, non-hybrid species, you can save the seeds. All you need is a few square feet of the great outdoors, a water source, and a little time.

Watching your garden grow under your care to provide food for your family and community is gratifying.  It helps you to thrive, nourish your family, maintain your health and cultivate relationships in your community.
