Well according to the date on the calendar, it is now officially autumn and the definite nip in the air is a sure sign that it is time for us to join the squirrels and start preparing for the cooler weather ahead.

This small, attractively laid out shop is a chocoholic’s dream and with Easter on the horizon now's the time to stock up with chocolate gifts. They have some great specials on at the moment.

Cooler weather also means diving under the bedcovers with a good book (along with the chocolates of course) and now may be a good time to take stock of your linen cupboard and check if there is any need to replenish your sheets and duvets. NEW SHOPS

The Zone

I am always on the lookout for new factory shops and I know those in the Southern Suburbs are going to be pleased to hear that they can now get their Falke socks at factory shop prices in Salt River. This new spacious and well laid out shop sells the same wide range of socks that you will find at their factory shop in Bellville South and better still at the same prices! We were delighted with the bargains we found. The Zone can be found at Shop 8, Brickfield Park, 15 Brickfield Road, Salt River.

HEARD IT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE

The Mohair Mill Shop

As the weather starts to get cooler I am often asked where to get mohair items. If you are looking for any mohair products then a good and very attractively laid out shop to visit is The Mohair Mill Shop at 35 Kendal Road, Diep River. I popped in their recently and they were offering a wide range of merchandise varying from socks to blankets, made from fleece obtained from angora goats. They also stock a variety of toys and I liked the table showcasing some unusual gift items.

The Shop

A nice touch when purchasing items at The Shop in Salt River (a great shop, not only for menswear but ladies' clothing too) is that if you need any alterations to the garments you purchase they have an in-house tailor on hand to assist you. If they are not busy at the time alterations can be made while you wait or you can pop back later. We thought the alteration charges were very reasonable.

COVID-19 REGULATIONS

Please note that while out of your home you are required by law to wear a mask at all times and most shops will insist that customers wear a mask when entering and also that they sanitise their hands. Customers are also required to observe the important necessity for social distancing from other shoppers.

Since lockdown some factory shops have changed the hours they operate so it is advisable to check their hours before visiting. Also sadly, some shops have closed their doors. We will continue to keep you informed of any closures we hear of on our Facebook page.
