Half a Hexagon
shaping simple ideas in a complex world
     17 March 2021

Hello, I notice you've not been either opening or perhaps receiving my newsletters and wanted to check in....

This is a short note from this week, because I had a bit of news, but generally I share on a fortnightly basis ideas from current organisational behaviour, psychology, politics, and recommend books, podcasts and ideas.

Since my paper about the future of work and the workplace was published last week it's had some good media pickup: On Friday I appeared on the BBC's Today programme (it's here - the last five minutes so not too much scrolling to find I hope).

Then in the Financial Times the management writer Andrew Hill cited the paper in a piece specifically looking at time and how punching the clock needs to be systematically re-evaluated: something I strenuously argue for in the paper.

The paper benefitted from the considerable wisdom of a number of wise owls, not least Professor Lynda Gratton, also quoted in the FT piece, Hilary Cottam, Martin Wolf, William Eccleshare, Dennis Owusu-Sem, Tom Adeyoola, Josh Greene, Stefan Stern...and Charles Handy.

Stefan and I are busy working on the podcast of The Nowhere Office - more soon.
The team at Demos  - CEO Polly Mackenzie and Rose Lasko-Skinner who heads up work and The Workshift Commission which I chair are busy planning ways to extend our understanding of what is happening in the workplace as we move to a post-pandemic mode.

I'm now working on extending the paper into a book which will be published next Spring and I'm keen to speak to Leaders-with-a-capital L: CEOS, HR and People Directors, organisations with data, organisations who want change to happen and want to be part of that change: I will feature case studies.
