Executive Director’s Report

The Rev. Bob LawrenceDuring the past two weeks at our weekly Staff chapel gatherings, we have focused on "remembering". That began by focusing first on the prophets of old and what our Lord Jesus asks us to remember.

I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Genesis 9:15

God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob. Exodus 2:24

Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Exodus 20:8

But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today. Deuteronomy 8:18

And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them saying, "This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me."  Luke 22:19

In this review, it was easily recognized that throughout scripture we find over 230 instances of our Lord's admonition to remember his covenants, his actions, his faithfulness, his promises, his love and so much more.

In the middle of March, we also focused on remembering the unfolding events of the past twelve months with the onset of the closures and restrictions wrought by the coronavirus pandemic. With an avalanche of cancellations and closures that began in earnest following the March 11, 2020 declaration of a worldwide pandemic, by March 16th, the full staff had been reduced to hourly wages at 30 hours maximum pay. Gratefully, that was rescinded with the provisions of a PPP loan, but by early June, the remaining staff had dwindled to only 20, with it falling further to only 18 before the end of the year. Throughout the challenges of the past year, we have resolved to trust God all the more and to recognize that he is faithful and just.

Through the extraordinary generosity of so many, God met our needs. We are now poised to face the future all the more with renewed hope and trust in our Lord's goodness, care and provision. While safeguards and density restrictions remain firmly in place, we are encouraged by welcoming returning groups and the resumption of our Summer Camp ministry. We too welcome your return to participate in all that we offer. Come see us, and do so soon!

Blessings,
