Dear Observer,
We are pleased to share with you the We-Fi Annual Report, covering the partnership’s work in 2020 including the operational results until 30 June 2020. The past year was a year like no other, with women entrepreneurs around the world deeply impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. This report shows how We-Fi is supporting these women not just to survive the crisis, but also enhances their long-term resilience. By working to improve women’s access to finance, markets, networks and information, We-Fi is helping them fulfill their potential and become engines of economic growth and job creation. This report also shares the inspiring personal stories of women entrepreneurs whose persistence, drive, and innovation are manifested in the businesses they run.
We are happy to report that We-Fi is showing a steady growth in the number of active projects as well as initial results from the activities that started implementation earlier. As We-Fi programs continue to roll out, its global footprint will expand to over 60 countries from the current 39 countries, bringing We-Fi closer to reaching 130,000 WSMEs. With $300 Million in funding allocations, We-Fi is expected to mobilize an additional $3 billion in financing from the public and private sector. Over the past year, We-Fi continued to serve as an effective platform to advocate and deepen engagement with governments and has supported 12 legal and regulatory reforms in South East Asia and the Middle East and North Africa region.
