Diocese Gathered for Convention March 13

Though we weren't in one place for the 2021 Convention we did gather at one time, with nearly 300 clergy and lay delegates participating from their own homes and churches, while the Bishop and Diocesan staff operated from the Diocesan offices in Charleston.  “There is no replacement for person-to-person worship and fellowship,” said the Bishop in his address yet despite the setback, there was a sense of community and celebration.

A Video Retrospective Celebrating our Churches

COVID Came.... And our Churches Pivoted!

"...Facebook and Youtube channels were established---our clergy and their staff members learned about recording equipment and lighting and sound equipment. Even some clergy spouses stepped in to serve as production assistants!
One year ago, most of us did not know what ZOOM was, and now it has become a part of our weekly gatherings..."

"What do I owe my successor?
What do I owe the Diocese?"

Bishop Lawrence Reflects on Two Questions in Convention Address

Bishop Mark LawrenceThe Bishop considered the two questions above in his address to the convention and commended the clergy and parish leadership for their efforts during the COVID pandemic. "I want to pause in the midst of this convention to celebrate our clergy—rectors, vicars, assisting priests, and deacons and their lay members for your extraordinary ministry during these extraordinary times! ...Well done good and faithful servants!

Archbishop's School for Young LeadersArchbishop's School for Young Leaders:
 10th - 12th Graders:

Archbishop Foley Beach, along with the Next Generation Leadership Initiative, is launching the Archbishop’s School for Young Leaders during the Provincial Council gathering this June. This school invites young leaders (currently 10-12th grade) into the conversation of how they can help lead the next generation of the ACNA. Young Leaders, once accepted, will gather virtually in the evenings of June 13-15, 2021 to learn from provincial leaders, to worship together, to network and build relationships with peers across the province, to develop as leaders themselves, and to have fun! Following the gathering, young leaders will be encouraged to complete a small project within their community, built around one of ++Foley’s key initiatives.

It is the Archbishop’s hope that every diocese will be represented at the ASYL this summer. What students in your church or diocese can you ask to join us this summer?
