This weekend, March 18 - 21, tune in to World Spring Camp,
starting with a Sampler tomorrow at 4PM Pacific Time!
World Music & Dance Camp was founded in 1994 by co-directors
Ahmet Luleci and Joe Graziosi.
For this edition, World Camp teams up with John & Galia Kuo and Ensemble Balkanske Igre's Spring Festival.
WORLD SPRING CAMP will be all virtual and free to sign up.

This is part 1 of a 2 part "World Spring Camp Sampler Party".
During this party, we'll introduce you to our bands and teachers, play some of the great bands music for you, have our teachers lead familiar dances, and teach you a dance or two.

A website disaster occurred on March 15, so it was reverted to a March 12 backup. If you voted or added new dances between March 12 and 15, they will likely be gone, and you will have to reenter.
I'm hoping not much was lost since you should have been spending your time at the amazing San Antonio/Laguna Spring Festival on those days!

The seventh Lyrids Folk Dance Festival is going ONLINE April 23-25, 2021!
This year our April 2021 festival will be online in partnership with Kyklos International Folk Dancers of Portland, Oregon.

Maurits & Tineke van Geel

The festival will be on the Lyrids weekend, and will feature Tineke and Maurits van Geel teaching Armenian, Roma, and International dances, and the same band (Osem i Devet + Friends) as had been planned for the in-person festival. Because of the time difference with the Netherlands, Tineke & Maurits will be teaching in the morning only. That frees up the afternoon for additional cameo workshops with many other teachers! Registration is FREE! We will not have expenses for the venue and caterers this year! We have sufficient funds to guarantee a minimal payment to the teachers, band, and the additional workshop teachers. We will be soliciting donations from festival participants to cover festival costs and hopefully increase payment to the teachers and musicians; all funds raised will be used for the festival this year.

We extend a special thank you to the Lyrids 2020 registrants who donated part or all of their registration fees!

Osem i Devet with Miamon Miller at the 2018 Lyrids Folk Dance Festival + Dina!

Osem i Devet with musicians Michael Lawson on accordion, David Bilides on tupan, Miamon Miller on violin, Janie Cowan on bass, Teodora Dimitrova & Dina Trageser both singing, and special guest Dragi Spasovski will provide live music for the Saturday evening dance party, and pre-recorded music for the Friday and Sunday evening dance parties.
Dina & Teodora will lead singing workshops, and Miamon will lead a Balkan instrumental music workshop.
