Your farm's future
Interested in continuing to use your land for farming or forestry while ensuring it will remain that way? A conservation easement limits uses of the land to advance one or more conservation objectives, while keeping the land in the owner’s control. It is a mutual agreement between the landowner and a private land trust or government. Find a land trust in your area, and more info on conservation easements here.
PA's Resource Enhancement and Protection (REAP) Program: earn tax credits for implementing "Best Management Practices" (BMPs). Landowners may receive 50-75% of project cost in the form of State tax credits you can use over 15 years. Apply for proposed projects and/or completed projects such as streambank fencing, buffers, no-till, rotational grazing, grass waterways, etc.... In some cases you may be able to apply REAP tax credits for a grant match, or even to sell their credits.
VAPG Program Change
In case you missed it, USDA Rural Development announced a MAJOR change to the VAPG program. For this round, only a 10% match is required. Details here.
