Dear young Europeans,

We get many questions from students who are confused about their rights in the UK - from whether they can access home fees with pre-settled status, to the right of work during studies.

This week, we put together a volunteer taskforce. There are several Young Europeans volunteers who are students - from high school students to PhD level! - who are working on developing an informative toolkit on EU students' rights, which will be disseminated to universities and student societies. We will need a lot of help both with content production and 'on the ground' sharing the resources.

Most of all, we would like to hear what are the questions relevant for students, so we can incorporate them into the toolkit. Whether you are a student, work with students or simply have ideas on this and want to volunteer, we welcome your thoughts and input!

The #OurHomeOurVote campaign currently keeps our Network busy with dissemination and especially translations in Bulgarian, Romanian and Lithuanian (and starting to cover even more languages).

If you haven't already, share our campaign website with a friend and check out our content for the public. It would also help a lot if you could share our fundraiser for a social media campaign targeted to EU citizens less likely to register to vote.

In the next two weeks, we will organise 3 hustings events with candidates in Corby, Northampton and Peterborough. You can see the details in the Events section below.

Every week, we will share a #ReasonToRegister to vote with you. Here's today's reason:
We'd also like to share some news from our friends at Polish Migrants Organise for Change (POMOC) and Shout Out UK. They just launched a free programme, Rise Up: Women’s Political Leadership, designed to empower Eastern European women as political leaders and active residents in the UK. If interested, you can read more about the programme here and watch the launch video.
Finally, we are continuing our #CitizenshipStory campaign - so if you wish to share your story in a photo or video format, please do so here or get in touch directly!

Best wishes,

Alexandra and Lara

Young Europeans social media highlights

Tweet of the week - Cambridge City Council sent information about the EU Settlement Scheme and voter registration to all residents!
We were disappointed to see a tweet from the Electoral Commission this week stating that one 'only needs a NINo' to register to vote. You do not need a NINo to register to vote in the UK - if you do not have one, for instance, because you have never worked or you could not apply for one during the pandemic, you can tick 'No' and explain the reasons on th registration form. This week on #EUQuestionTime, Lara explains how to register without a NINo.
"Do I need a NINo to #RegisterToVote?" (NO!)
The TikTok was quieter, but we learnt some more on voting rights...
This week's #CitizenshipStory is from Saifullah, who recently joined the Young Europeans Network. Many EU citizens arrived in the UK as children, or were even born in the UK, and do not have British citizenship. For some, citizenship is a pragmatic decision, while for others, it also speaks to feelings of identity.
On #StudentTuesdays, another burning question was anwered!
