Dear <<First Name>>

Hoping this message finds you well.

Amendments have been submitted for the Canbury Car Park hybrid planning application, and published on the 9th March 2021. The standard consultation expiry date is Friday 2nd April 2021.

Revision documents include:

  • Covering letter
  • Amendments to the basement layout
  • Updated non-technical summary of the Environmental statement
  • Bus stop design document - Sopwith Way
  • Updated viability report - indicating that revisions to the basement of Phase 1 has released funding for an additional 3 affordable homes  (total 98)
  • Transport Assessment Addendum Note: including Plans for the junction design and relocated bus stop
With the exception of the basement amendment, the form of the development remains unchanged within the site boundary since the last revision in 2020. Overall, the original flaws remain. Please find attached the response from the NKForum committee, we have objected to the scheme amendments, and reconfirmed our earlier objection which these new amendments have also not addressed.

If you responded to the earlier consultations and feel that these amendments have still not addressed your concerns, please do consider responding to the current consultation reconfirming your earlier concerns.

Tiffin Girls' School
Construction of a new 2-storey sports hall - planning application 20/03077/FUL
The NKForum committee confirms support in principle. Our community consultations and engagement activities identified a strong desire for a community venues to facilitate indoor racquet sports, as well as basketball, volleyball and gymnastics, amongst other sports. The NKForum committee supports the application in principle on the basis that the commitment to allow weekly community use will be honoured and that only reasonable fees and charges applied for full community use.  We have also encouraged Tiffin Girls' School to consider a wider range of community use including the opportunity for the return of adult education classes to North Kingston.

Please find attached the NKForum Committee response to the application.

Statutory Proposal for Kingston Church of England Secondary School
The North Kingston Neighbourhood Plan notes that forecast demand for secondary school places remains high and in the short term is managed through temporary expansions. However, there remains a requirement for additional secondary school places to meet the needs of existing and future residents of North Kingston – as indicated in Achieving for Children’s School Place Planning Strategy (November 2020). Current GLA population projections indicate an ~11% increase borough-wide by 2030, potentially placing further strain on school placements.

The Forum has been monitoring the progress of the Southwark Diocesan Board of Education’s bid to establish a new voluntary-aided secondary school in the Norbiton area, and believes this proposal currently represents the best opportunity to meet the needs of a growing population in North Kingston. So far as the proposed secondary school remains predominantly non- selective and open to all children from all backgrounds and faiths, the North Kingston Neighbourhood Forum supports this application. Please find attached the NKForum committee response to the proposal.

Kind regards

Diane Watling
