Safeguarding! Every community and voluntary group needs a policy on safeguarding, even if you don't directly work with children, young people or vulnerable adults. But it can be an intimidating topic to tackle - probably because protecting people is the most important task around.
Let's take the first step together.
On Tuesday (23 March at 11am) we're holding 'Getting started with safeguarding' - a small group online workshop to explore the things to consider when developing an effective safeguarding policy.
The interactive, informal session will offer an easy introduction to safeguarding - and we'll leave plenty of space for you to ask questions and share ideas.
We'd love you to join us - simply register at Eventbrite today. If you can't make Tuesday, email us and we'll save your details for a future session.
(The workshop will be held on Zoom. If you're unsure about how to use it, check out this brilliant Zoom lesson from DigiKick. We can also help you - just reply to this email once you've signed up for the event.)
We have sessions especially for groups supported by Hodge Hill, Perry Barr and Selly Oak Neighbour Network Schemes. View them here.
Whatever stage you have reached with your Birmingham community group or project, you are welcome to book a surgery to work through a challenge or idea with someone who has lots of experience of doing similar: info@birminghamcommunitymatters.org.uk.
Do you know someone who would find our emails useful? We generally only send out one e-newsletter per month, and the occasional bulletin (like this one).
As we all continue to feel the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, we're still updating our page of resources for community groups, which includes details of funding, information on continuity/recovery, and local and national support services.
