St David's Minister's Missive

Dear St David's Church Family💒

What a special time we had last Sunday celebrating with Prue and Chris as they got married! Here is a message from them:

Chris and I would like to thank you all so very much for allowing us to have our wedding service as part of the morning church service last Sunday. It was incredibly special for us to declare our love for each other and commitment to each other in front of our friends at St David's
- thank you - Prue

This Sunday is the 5th Sunday in Lent and you will find the liturgy attached. We welcome and thank Hector, who will be preaching for us.

This week's prayer is a poem by Steve Garnass-Holmes: 'Ashes'

Take all of who I am,
the
me-ness of me,
what makes me who I am,
the special, the unique,
the brilliant and the unpardonable,
all I'm so proud of, and so ashamed,
that I've worked so hard to fashion,
that I'm still working on,
what I can't part with
because there wouldn't be
anything left of me—
take it.

Take it.
I lay it in your hands.
Gather it into yourself,
into your dark, generous mystery,
and in the flame of your creating heart
burn it.

Then into the dust and ashes
breathe your breath,

and with gratitude
I will receive
who rises

when in your grace
you give me
me
anew

Amen

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, whether physically or via our live-stream.

Wherever you are and whoever you are, you are welcome in this place.

May God's light shine in us and through us🌟

With love, hope and peace

Joy💒
