Ben-Akiva presents seminar on Tri-POP platform for operations of smart mobility

head shot of Dr. Moshe Ben-AkivaThe University of Toronto ITE Student Chapter welcomed special guest speaker Professor Moshe Ben-Akiva of MIT on March 19, 2021 to present “Tri-POP: An online platform for smart mobility with prediction, optimization and personalization.”

Ben-Akiva's talk about operations of smart mobility included examples of smart mobility solutions that his research group has worked on, a detailed look at Tri-POP analytics, and a summary of three Tri-POP applications that his research group has been engaged in.

Widener discusses barriers to accessing healthy foods

head shot of Dr. Michael WidenerUTTRI associated faculty Professor Michael J. Widener, Canada Research Chair in Transportation and Health, talks about food environments and barriers that affect our access to healthy food in a recent article in Canada's National Observer.

He says that retail store location is just one possible barrier to accessing healthy food. “Money,” he says, “is probably the biggest barrier, because money buys you space and time.”
