February CTE Students of the Month
The February Automotive Technology Student of the Month is Matthew Iscra. He is a senior from Genoa-Kingston High School and is a very dedicated student with a strong desire to become a professional auto technician. He works hard on his labs when in the shop and in the classroom. Matt is always smiling and eager to learn.
The February Early Childhood Education Student of the Month is Kylee Davis. She is a junior at Rochelle High School. Kylee is a fully remote student and she has done a great job of staying connected with the class by maintaining excellent attendance. Kylee has been planning and implementing activities for the preschoolers (which is not easy to do remotely, but she does a great job) and also writing up observations each week. She is a student with a very positive attitude who puts in great effort!
The February Sports Medicine Student of the Month is Hunter Leman. He is a junior at DeKalb High School and has been a solid student both semesters here at KEC. He has really emerged as a leader in the classroom. Hunter would like to become an athletic trainer. In preparation for a career in athletic training, he has chosen to stay with the KEC family next year and take EMT. He has a great personality for either profession.
The February Computer Information Systems Student of the Month is Caden Miller. He is a junior at Genoa-Kingston High School. As a CTE student, Caden has modeled what remote learning can accomplish. He’s shown outstanding effort in class participation and class assignments while learning from home. He’s been able to keep to the class schedule as one of the first students to join remotely each day and manage the workload associated with the course demands.

The February CNA Student of the Month is Julialyn Shedd. She is a junior from DeKalb High School and is an engaging student who has a contagious positive attitude every time she walks in the classroom. Julialyn is willing to try new skills and easily establishes a rapport with those around her.

The February Criminal Justice Student of the Month is Natalie Wells. Natalie is a junior at Rochelle Township High School and was a late add to the Criminal Justice class last semester. Natalie is active in sports and other activities at RTHS and in class here at KEC. She maintains good attendance, with a great attitude while balancing her schedule. She is a pleasure to
have in class.
The February Health Occupations Student of the Month is Noah Norris. Noah is a senior at Rochelle Township High School and has done a great job all semester taking Medical Terminology and Health Care Careers completely remotely. It is difficult to stay engaged in classes from a remote setting and Noah has excelled. Noah took the class because he is interested in pursuing a career in Health Care.

KEC's Virtual Career Conference

KEC hosted our Virtual Career Conference on Friday, March 12th. The event was open to all local middle school students. Approximately, 800 students from around DeKalb & Ogle Counties attended the conference, gaining valuable insights from dozens of presenters regarding the road they took to get to their current job and what it takes to be successful in their career field. While the virtual format of the conference was quite different from years past, it was exciting to see the creativity come through the screens in each session! We want to thank our KEC instructors & KEC students for giving hundreds of local middle schoolers the opportunity to explore different career paths & learn the ropes of their dream job!
