Parks and climate and disability

I work for the Bristol Disability Equality Forum on the Bristol Green Capital Partnership’s Community Climate Action project. You can find more information about the project here: https://bristoldef.org.uk/community-climate-action/

As part of the work we’re making a video for Disabled people about Bristol reaching net-zero and why they should get involved.

We’re looking for concrete plans to film for the project and also interviewees, and as part of the climate plan is to ensure that everyone lives within 10 minutes of green space.

It’d be great to find a Disabled person able to speak about how Disabled people will be involved/impacted by the nature elements of the net-zero plans. If you anyone who might be appropriate it would be much appreciated if you could point me in their direction.

Many thanks,

Please check that the information for your group is correct and let me know, either that it is OK or that it needs changing, especially if it hasn’t been changed recently.

Entries which have been updated / confirmed in the last five years now show the year of last update in the listing.

YOUR FOREST - Radio series and sound map for Bristol

Thank you to Dougal in Brislington for this information:

A new, exciting project about urban forests, woodlands and parks has just launched in Bristol.

We’ve brought together a network of community radio stations throughout England to broadcast a special series about urban forests and trees – looking at how important these green areas to communities living in and around towns and cities.

You can listen to the series as it goes out, via our website, or tune into the radio station most local to you - BCfm.

As part of the project we’re creating a unique soundmap of recordings from local parks, woods or forests.  We’re inviting people to go to their local area of trees, record a minute of sounds on their phone and then submit it to be part of the map.  It’s really easy to do and explained on the ‘Your Forest’ website https://wildrumpus.org.uk/yourforest/
