"Opening Day," 2021!

We're coming up on the first Tuesday in April, which would normally be our first market of the season.  Since we've continued to operate the market through the winter, it might not seem very exciting to call this "opening day," but there's plenty to look forward to this week!

Perry-winkle Farm, Katherine's Garden, Sour Bakery, and Red Roots Farm are back for the season, and we're pleased to welcome Paradox Farm Creamery as a new(ish) vendor this year -- you might remember them from a few years back!  As the weather warms up and the spring produce starts coming in strong, we'll start filling in all the winter gaps in the vendor circle.  To help you keep track of it all, vendor location maps are back starting this week.

The weather is looking lovely, and we hope to see you all on Tuesday!

Perry-winkle Farm

It's time... it's time for us to start back selling at market this week.  Michael and Olive have been enjoying their shopping trips to market but it's time for us to get back to market as vendors!

The weather has been a bit challenging this winter, the above normal rainfall kept us out of the fields and delayed some plantings.  We are back on schedule now.  So what will we be offering this first market of April?

Michael's chickens are laying lots more eggs as the day length increases.  We have a young flock (the pullets) who have just started laying so we will have a table full of their eggs.  When a hen starts laying their first eggs they are smaller.  Since Michael grades/weighs each egg, they are packed separately and come with a smaller price tag.  Folks say that the yolk to white ratio is higher with pullet eggs, we know that they are yummy!

To go along with our eggs we would like to recommend that you pick up some green garlic. This juvenile stage of garlic is a favorite spring crop. We use it like green onions, like leeks, or like cloves of mature garlic. We use it in everything! The season will only last a little more than a month longer so don't delay in trying it.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone this Tuesday!

with gratitude,
Mike Perry and Cathy Jones
