A Letter from The PTA Presidents

Dear West Woodland Community,
Challenging things have continued to come our way in the last few weeks. We know that many families are excited to be returning to the building in April and we also know that many families are planning to stay remote. Regardless of whether you are staying 100% remote or returning to the building, we are all one community. PTA activities and events will remain open to all families.
We also wanted to voice our support for the West Woodland parents, students, teachers and staff in the Asian American Pacific Islander community. We see you and we want you to feel safe in our school community. We support an end to the rise in violence against the Asian community.

Wednesdays in April
Wacky Wednesdays
|

|
Every Wednesday in April we are going to have spirit days. The spirit day ideas come from the West Woodland 5th graders. Come to class, remote or hybrid, dressed up to show your school spirit.
- Wed, April 7th is Animal Day - Wear animal print, an animal shirt, costume, ears, or wings to show your respect for other creatures that inhabit this Earth with us. *Pick up garbage around your home. Let’s keep wildlife safe.
- Wed, April 21st is Wear a Hat Day - Wear a hat. “Hats off to you Mother Earth.” *Reduce, Reuse Recycle- Can you make something new out of something you already have, give something away for others to use, or create less waste? Do you recycle? https://www.youtube.com/embed/OasbYWF4_S8
- Wed, April 28th is Team Shirt Day! - Wear a team shirt (sports team, club, uniform, etc.). Join the race to make our Earth a better place.

Spring Break is Monday, April 12 through Friday, April 16. Schools will be closed these days.

We encourage families to follow health guidelines and limit gatherings or travel. We will follow the current guidance regarding travel by the governor's office.

Kitchen Conversation with Your Principal and PTA

Join the Principal and PTA Presidents for this ongoing series from the comfort of your own kitchen. This month, on Tuesday, April 20th we will be hosting two calls, one in the morning at 9:30 am and one in the evening at 6:30 pm.
The conversations will be focused on how are families are adjusting to the Hybrid Return to School and Continued Remote Learning.

Yearbook Deadline

We’ve asked for yearbook photos and you have heard our call! Thank you to everyone that has contributed so far. With your help West Woodland Yearbooks can happen this year!
If you still need to send is a photo, please do! The deadline is APRIL 23. Here’s how:
- Please send us your PORTRAIT-STYLE photographs of your West Woodland Elementary student(s)!
- Please photograph each student individually against a plain or low-distraction background. A blank wall, a fence, or a tree or bush work nicely!
- Phone pics are fine! Please turn off all filters or color effects.
- Please photograph each student from the waist up -- save the sneaker shots for another time!
Email photo(s) to westwoodlandyearbook@gmail.com with each photo labeled clearly with the STUDENT'S NAME and TEACHER'S NAME. One email per photo, please!
We plan on including a special section in the yearbook for graduating 5th graders. Later this month, an email will be sent to via room reps for all fifth graders to fill out.

West Woodland Talent Show

The 2021 Virtual West Woodland Talent Show is coming up! Singing, playing an instrument, dancing, standing on your head, building with Legos, painting, acting, miming, entertaining, doing exceptional math… ANYthing! If you’ve got a talent you want to share, we want to see it! Click link below to submit a video (2 minutes max) by May 5th.
