Rally at Sen. Feinstein's SF office: 12pm Monday

Click here to go straight to the actions and call scripts!

Hi Indivisibles,

This Monday, April 5th at noon, we're rallying at Sen. Feinstein's San Francisco office in support of the For the People Act, which targets voter suppression, gerrymandering, money in politics, and corruption. The Act has no pathway to pass if the filibuster remains in place- Republicans block all progressive legislation using the filibuster, and to make sure their voter suppression efforts work in the next election, they only need to run out the clock while passing voter suppression bills at the state level. Shamefully, Sen. Feinstein not only refuses to call for an end to the filibuster, she's even expressed support for this Jim Crow relic. She's one of the very few Democratic Senators who are trying to keep this legislative loophole in place and allowing Republicans to block the bills she claims to support. If you can't make it to the rally in person, you can still participate virtually by making your calls to Sen. Feinstein's office April 5th.

This week, we must also ask our Representative to co-sponsor the THRIVE Resolution as a part of the infrastructure plan. From creating millions of union jobs while averting climate catastrophe to investing in Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities, THRIVE’s top priorities are the families and communities who share the dream of a good life: free from worry about meeting basic needs, with reliable and fulfilling work, and a dignified and healthy standard of living. All of these must be included in the infrastructure and climate plan. President Biden's American Jobs Plan is a start- but it falls short of the investment needed to make a real transformation. (See the explainer here.) We're calling on our Representative to push for $1 trillion in funding per year for the next decade in the infrastructure bill, and to make sure it supports all the priorities of the THRIVE resolution.

For Indivisible Yolo members who live or work in Davis: the Davis City Council meets on Tuesday, April 6th and will discuss the recommendations for re-imagining public safety in Davis. We are in support of a true structural change, with a separate Department of Public Safety that is NOT part of the Davis Police Department. For actions you can take, check here.

Check out our event calendar at https://indivisibleyolo.org/calendar/ for virtual events and actions, including Action Coffee on Mondays and the Fixing our Democracy Action Hour Sundays at 5pm.

Text: Fixing our democracy. Volunteers needed. Blueprint provided. Action Hours: New time! 5pm on Sundays on Zoom. Images are of the Indivisible Yolo logo and of a stylized silhouette of the Capitol building in white on a blue blueprint paper style background.
Our six week series delving into the new Indivisible Guide has concluded - but there is still plenty of fixing of our democracy left to do, so we are extending Action Hour through the rest of the first 100 days of the Biden administration. It's still every Sunday, but now at a new (and we hope more convenient) time: 5pm. We'll review democracy reform developments and continue to give you directions each week on an easy action to take to persuade our elected officials to enact the key democracy reforms in the new Indivisible guide.

The next Action Hour is at 5pm Sunday. Slides, action scripts, a tally sheet to track your actions, and the Zoom link can be found at: linktr.ee/dothework2020/

Tell Rep. Garamendi OR Rep. Matsui: co-sponsor the THRIVE Resolution and improve the American Jobs Plan

(Note: only one of these 2 Congressmembers represents you. You can find out which one here)

Sample Call Script:
Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME]. I'm a constituent from [CITY, zip code].

[Garamendi] I’m calling to urge Representative Garamendi to co-sponsor the THRIVE Resolution and to work to pass a bold jobs plan that is consistent with the principles of justice and the scale of investment laid out in the THRIVE Resolution. The next recovery bill must invest one trillion dollars per year for the next decade to create millions of good jobs, repair and revive our economy, and address the overlapping crises of mass unemployment, racial injustice, public health and climate change. Thank you.

[Matsui] I’m calling to thank Representative Matsui for expressing support for the THRIVE agenda. I'd like to ask Rep. Matsui to officially cosponsor the THRIVE resolution. I also ask that she work to improve President Biden’s American Jobs Plan to pass a bold jobs plan that is consistent with the principles of justice and the scale of investment laid out in the THRIVE Resolution. The next recovery bill must invest one trillion dollars per year for the next decade to create millions of good jobs, repair and revive our economy, and address the overlapping crises of mass unemployment, racial injustice, public health and climate change. Thank you.
