PPS Percussion Ensemble — “Interstellar”
Several of our percussionists will be performing with other percussionists across the district to virtually perform an arrangement from the movie "Interstellar" that was arranged by my wonderful colleague from Grant HS, Brian McFadden. Students are recording their parts by the middle of April, and the finished product will be shared later. We plan to include it in our Play-a-thon concert on May 21st, as well.

Play-a-thon Concert
Our Play-a-thon Concert will be on Friday, May 21st from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. This will be a recurring concert that repeats about every hour. There will be a GoFundMe page associated with this concert to raise funds to cover what was spent this year.

Jazz Ensemble
Jazz Ensemble results were posted on Friday 4/2 in the announcement sections of all of the band Canvas pages. They are still needing some "interest" in the trumpet section and saxophone section. In some cases, it is not interest, but room in the schedule. Regardless, Mr. Riler is hoping that some students will step forward who are interested to see if they can figure out a way to make it work. Mr. Riler has shared this in most of the classes, he is hopeful it might be a talking point at home if there is a trumpeter or saxophonist in your home.

Quarter 3 Grades & Hybrid Learning
Quarter 3 is almost in the books. Students that did not record in time for the concert are still required to record to earn credit for the assignment (consider it the make-up assignment). Check Canvas to make sure things are caught up.
Students will be able to play their instruments for Hybrid lessons in the band room. Mr. Riler will be passing on the latest guidance via an email, so everyone knows what to expect in that regard. Any specialized PPE that is necessary for playing in the band room will be purchased by the district. Families will not need to purchase any specialized PPE for their student musician, if that student is participating in Hybrid learning.

After School Sectionals
Sectionals after school will be used specifically to build program awareness. They will be instrument specific across the entire program (9-12 grade), so students can meet each other and learn some of the pep band songs together.
Students who do participate in sectionals, will need to be registered with this database for check-ins - FamilyID: https://www.familyid.com/programs/2020-21-all-sports-registration. If a student already participates in sports at Cleveland, they are already taken cared of, as they have already been registered.
