Hi <<First Name>>, Are you Twitching to learn Twitch?

Communicate live with customers on a 1 to 1 basis whilst streaming to hundreds (or tens if you are just starting out!).

(Twitch will) Liven up your Business with Live Streaming

Got an Itch to Learn Twitch? Snitch the time between 10 am and 1 pm next Saturday, 10th April, and dedicate it to learning a new skill to boost your business and maybe even create a new income stream.

And what is Twitch?  Twitch is not just another mindless social media platform. Twitch (www.twitch.tv) is a platform with direct engagement at its heart and said to be the easiest platform to monetise and get started on.

What does that mean for you?  Sacrifice a few hours to learn about this relatively easy and less known channel where you might find a way to chat with your customers in real-time whilst getting your work done!  And making money on the side!

One comment from our own ST Digital Dinosaur, Christine Doan, who at 71 has just learned how to Twitch:  “This is a platform built for me because the longer you talk the better! I’m a blabbermouth but I couldn’t keep up with many of the Twitch live streams where you can step into the kitchen of the sushi shop you’re eating in or feel you are on the fishing boat that caught the tuna for your sushi. On my first Twitch, I had a stranger wander by and ask questions!  Well, he did ask what the F@#%k a Healy is!  How easy is that to find conversation partners?”

Startup and Innovation Tablelands (ST) was co-founded 6 years ago by Christine Doan and she has stuck by her leading role in bringing the concepts of startup, of lean business methodology and of modern innovation to the Tablelands.

Due in part to health concerns, Christine will be stepping back from her hands-on role as co-chair. She continues in an “elder’s” role as Honorary Chair.

“Bronwyn Voyce, George Corea and I were inspired by Troy Haines at The SPACE Cairns to bring something new to the Tablelands. 6 years later, ST continues firmly on a path of discovery of local applications for cutting edge innovations in business. We have transitioned out of teaching “conventional” startup techniques as there are many excellent government-funded options just made for this once super-sexy topic. The world moves on and ST has moved forward toward new opportunities since our community is now well served with Lean Methodology education online or from other regional entities which have more recently sprung up. That leaves ST to move on to our latest interests and into areas closer to the forward edge of enterprise and social enterprise.”

This was not Christine’s first leap into volunteering to bring the latest in ideas and projects to the Tablelands. She turned up here 50 years ago and started out volunteering, as so many of us do, in her sport: dressage. In the 80’s she crammed in more volunteerism on a different topic but one also close to her heart: environmentalism. The move to volunteer in the economic realm is only the last in a lifetime of service to various segments of our community—always looking for the latest and the best of what each branch needed at the time.

But back to Business with a capital B! ST today looks forward to innovating through work on:
  • Low code/no code (no more years-long coding education)
  • Holistic support (as well as technical or hard skill-based support which continues as usual) for entrepreneurs and established businesses
  • Blended (or Hybrid) meetings as this is a direction that COVID unveiled as essential for the future (everyone knows Zoom by now but how do we combine online and Face2Face meetings in one event?)
  • Deep collaboration including in business models which normally preclude collaboration
  • Transformative Technology
With a strong Driver Team and Seamus Campbell as Chair, ST is poised to leap into new directions.

As usual, if you are interested in transformational business, do not hesitate to let ST know or to join one of our many upcoming events, all with a tangy twist of innovation new to the Tablelands.
