Dear Friends and Fellow Republicans

How to Take Back Virginia - The Strasburg Model

Politics is a hard thing, and winning an election is a tough thing to do.  But whether the race is for President, US Senate, Congress, Governor, House of Delegates, Board of Supervisors, or City Council, all races are won in the same way.  They're won at the Precinct level.

Political pundits talk about how races are won by ideas and great candidates - and to a certain extent this is true.  But at the end of the day, no matter what the office people are running for is - it's all about the volunteers and all things start and end at the Precinct level.

Don't believe me?  Here's proof.  And please allow me to brag a bit about myself here and Team Strasburg.

From 2008 - 2013, the previous Strasburg GOP had very few if any volunteers - and the average GOP turnout in the Town was about 57% during this time period.  Starting in 2014, a new Team Strasburg took over, led by Strasburg Precinct Chair and yours truly.  The changes that John Bost, Barbara Williams, and I put in place changed the dynamic of Town politics.  Strasburg, which was becoming a 50-50 Town, is now a 65-35 R to D Town.  What we did in Strasburg - if we can replicate that around the Commonwealth, we can and will take back Virginia.

Again, and I can not emphasize this enough, all elections are won by volunteers.  Yes good candidates inspire volunteers - but an outstanding organization at the ground level will ensure that any candidate can win. And quite frankly, the Democrats have been out hustling us on the ground for years now.

Back to Strasburg - in 2012, Mitt Romney received 1591 votes, or somewhere around 57.5% of the vote.

Yet in 2016, Donald Trump received 1877 votes, or nearly 65% of the vote.  Yes Trump was a better candidate than was Romney.  But Team Strasburg used tools that no one had used before - at least inside the Town.  1st was the fact that I led a team of 15+ volunteers on a door knocking frenzy, hitting nearly 2000 doors.

But more importantly was the GOTV operation that Precinct Captain John Bost and former Precinct Captain Barbara Williams carried out on Election Day.  Both John and Barbara were poll watchers, and they had a voter app called R Votes, which they used to log in voters on Election Day - and more importantly - they had a list of Republicans inside Town who had not voted.  So starting at 4 PM on Election Day afternoon - both John Bost and Barbara Williams started calling each known Republican who had not voted, and reminded them to get out and vote.  The end result was an additional 100 voters between 6-7 PM.  We know these numbers because dozens upon dozens of people came up to myself and other poll greeters saying how they had never received a call from the local GOP before reminding them to vote.

An extra 286 votes in Strasburg Precinct alone from 2012 to 2016 - all brought out because of the force of the volunteers - the hard work of the volunteers.

There are 2,477 precincts in Virginia.  Given the fact that Strasburg is a rather large precinct (4265 voters in 2018), it is asking too much to get an additional 286 votes in each other precinct in Virginia.  But with some hard work, we can get an additional 200 voters per precinct.  What would an additional 200 votes per precinct mean?

200 x 2477 = 495,400 votes.  Yes you read that correctly, an additional 495,000 votes.

We all know that there was massive voter fraud in the 2020 elections.  Only a truly blind person would argue differently.  I won't go into all the ways the fraud happened - but let's look at it this way.  In 2020, Joe Biden "won" Virginia by 451,138 votes.  You add an additional 495,400 votes to Donald Trump's total because of better precinct operations, and Trump, not Biden, wins Virginia.  Yes that's correct.  Even with all the shenanigans - Trump wins Va by 44,262 votes.

But that will take alot of hard work.  2 years ago, Doc Troxel and I wrote a manual titled "How to Build a Successful Precinct" - building on the great work done in Strasburg and offering helpful hints implemented by other volunteers in Shenandoah County and around Virginia.  I have extra copies if anyone is motivated and wants copies of the book.  This is not rocket science, but it is hard work.  And it is only by hard work that we will retake Virginia in 2021.

We had alot of good volunteers this past year in Virginia.  The 6th District Committee will be honoring some of them soon.  I wish we could given an award to each and every volunteer in CD 6 - so many of you worked so very hard to ensure that Trump won.  No one's hard work has escaped this administration, and your hard efforts are greatly appreciated by myself, each Member of the 6th District Committee, your local Units, and will be remembered by your children once we take back Va and can give to them a Constitutional Republic once again.
