Message from Administration

Dear Bateman Families & Friends,

Welcome back!  We were so excited to see all of our remote and in-person students today smiling and enthusiastic to share what they did over spring break. We hope everyone enjoyed some much needed off-screen time!

Please note that Quarter 4 will be here before we know it and there are a few upcoming meetings to discuss what the rest of the year will entail. All families who have opted in for Quarter 4 In-Person learning will receive a meeting link for this Wednesday, April 7th at 4pm in the primary contact email per child. We will be reviewing the most up to date information regarding procedures, podding, schedules, and more. To review how pod and shift assignments were created, please see the Bateman News page.

In order to provide a further opportunity for parents to learn about updates happening in the school, our April LSC Meeting will be next Wednesday, April 14th at 5:30pm. We hope to see you there!

Finally, in anticipation of welcoming nearly 400 students for Quarter 4, we are in search of a few extra monitors for recess or essentials classes. If you or anyone you know is interested in applying, please email us at the earliest convenience.

As always, we are proud to #BeBatemanStrong!

Our best,

Georgia & Kate

Reopening Updates
We will continue to update our community with information and FAQs.
Newly added items will be included in this section of the Buzz.

What steps would I take if I want to switch the learning model for my child?
The window for Quarter 4 In-Person Learning has closed. Thank you for all who have submitted the survey. Those who have submitted "Hybrid Learning" for Quarter 4 have the ability to change to "Learn at Home"; however, all families who have indicated Learn At Home will remain with Remote Learning for the remainder of this school year.

How do I access the Social Compact agreement for families who are returning?
All parents and students should sign and return (either electronically or printed version) of the Bateman Social Compact [Parent Compact English & Spanish | Student Compact English & Spanish]

What steps are necessary to receive the Health Screener text or email?
Parents and guardians of In-Person learners are required to complete a daily health screener for each child attending school. CPS sends a text message or email to the primary contact for each child around 6:00 am. The screener must be completed the morning of attendance no later than 7:30am. To verify that parents or guardians receive the daily reminder, ensure that you have "opted in" to receive district notifications in the North Office by phone at 773-534-5055 or email Ms. Rivera. If you have been receiving the emails to parents with updates regarding reopening, you're all set!

COVID Case Procedures
If a staff member or student tests positive for COVID the first important step to take is to report the case to the
COVID-19 self-reporting tool. The Office of Student Health & Wellness will then determine who was exposed (close contact for more than 15 mins) and who needs to quarantine. If a staff member tests positive as part of the CPS on-site COVID-19 testing then the pods exposed will be required to quarantine and launch in to remote learning.
