Morning and all aboard!

Maybe it's been a fat min since you've ridden the bus or train or gone anywhere. But President Biden's proposed $2 trillion infrastructure plan could have big implications for Chicago in the post-COVID world: extending the Red Line south to 130th Street, investing in electric CTA buses, reconstructing North Lake Shore Drive, and rebuilding streets to reduce pedestrian fatalities.

Chicago Department of Transportation Commissioner Gia Biagi described the city as a national transportation hub. And from the look of Amtrak's new proposed map, the railroad service seems to agree. Proposed routes would connect the city to Louisville, Cleveland, and more. [Chicago Tribune, WTTW

👉What you can do: Write to U.S. Reps. Chuy García and Marie Newman who are on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.

And while we're at, let's make sure the AC in all those rail cars are in tiptop shape. These 70-degree days are climbing toward 80 🥵

Before Lil Nas X broke the internet giving Satan a lap dance, rapper Roy Kinsey helped pave a path for queer Black musicians. The Chicago native's artistry is rooted in his storytelling — which is fitting considering he's been a librarian for over a decade. From rapping about the world at large to sharing his individual experiences, Kinsey has range 👏 [Chicago Tribune]

If you missed the Lil Nas X music video, City Cast Chicago host Jacoby Cochran joined Nerdette to discuss the significance of the pop culture moment.

😊Moment Of Joy

Forget Patriots quarterback Cam Newton's Superman pose and Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo's pirouette, those on-field celebrations have nothing on gymnast Evan Manivong.

The University of Illinois sophomore whipped out his vaccine card after landing a Kasamatsu. Play back the viral video in slow mo if you have to: The Kansas City, Missouri native twisted 2 1/2 times — first onto the apparatus and then while he was airborne — proceeded to stick the landing, and immediately showed off that sweet vax proof.
Player bubbles, masked spectators, and now flexing vaccine cards — how 2021.
