One of the joys of this school year for me (Jeff) has been training the rowdy bunch of men in my Development Group. From a variety of backgrounds and different places in their journey with Christ, there are always random tangents and theological debates that spring up in the midst of my weekly time of training them to become multiplying disciples of Christ.
One of the men, Charlie, trusted Christ last school year through his church and another Cru student Lucas (who I discipled). Charlie started this year reminding me of my younger self, also a Mechanical Engineering major struggling with confidence that God could use him.
As we have talked about life and scripture on discipleship walks this semester, I have seen God firming up Charlie’s identity in Christ. I have seen the fruit of him growing in confidence: talking with family members about Christ, beginning to disciple another student, and even deciding to become a Cru Community Group Leader next school year.
In Charlie’s story I also see the fruit of spiritual multiplication over time. Mike, one of my early students at KVCC, is the one who reached out to Lucas during freshmen welcome week. Lucas came to Christ and became a Community Group Leader, reaching out to Charlie. Charlie is now reaching out to even more students.
“...entrust these things to reliable men who will also be able to teach others…”
