A Message from the President

Hello, spring!
I hope you all are as excited as I am for more sunshine, porch sitting, and warmer weather!
It’s hard to believe my entire SMPS presidency has been through a computer screen, but I couldn’t have done it without the support of my faithful Board of Directors and our wonderful members! I can’t thank you all enough for your flexibility, adaptability, feedback, and support as we have navigated this virtual professional development year together. We still have LOTS to look forward to—site visits, our annual membership event, and our volunteer appreciation event, and we are looking to YOU to help us shape the rest of the year. When you have a free few minutes (I know they’re rare these days!), please take our COVID questionnaire here to help us shape our programming for the rest of the year.
We really appreciate it!
In other exciting news, we are looking to welcome some new members to our Board—President-Elect, Co-Directors of Programs, Director of Communications, Treasurer, and Director of Membership! If you’re interested in possibly joining the board, please email me at caitlin.rath@kimley-horn.com to chat.

The SERC planning committee is here to serve all our members. For those who are not comfortable yet meeting in person, we have an option for virtual content for SERC 2021. We heard how much you want this conference to happen, how much you enjoyed the virtual content from 2020, and that carrying the virtual option forward is important to you.
We are thankful for your support and feedback, and excited to see you either in-person or virtually in April.

During a recent meetup with some of our chapter leaders, we heard that having the opportunity to connect around sectors would be a benefit to members.
