Hello Everyone,
The Lord has been doing a lot of work in our lives and in our ministry and we are excited to share with you all about that! We have been in a whirlwind as we finish up the last of our training and prepare to move to Alaska for ministry in  just a few short weeks.
The last two weeks of March, we attended the last of our training for our aircraft mechanic (A&P) licenses. It was a very intense training and testing process, with us preparing for and taking three written exams each the first week, and then preparing for a series of oral and practical exams the second week. We both took the oral and practical exams April 3rd with the same examiner, Matt tested in the morning and I tested in the afternoon. The examiner said it was the first time he had tested a married couple at all, much less in the same day! Although it was intense, we went into it feeling very prepared by our time at SOAR and confident in the skills and knowledge we have acquired here. We are so grateful for all of your prayers surrounding the testing process, we definitely felt them!
With the last of our training behind us, we are so excited to begin our next journey with SEND North. We will be spending the majority of the summer off of the road system, supporting SEND missionaries in small villages which are completely inaccessible on the ground, making aviation a necessary lifeline. We have several work projects lined out for the summer, including helping with a Bible camp, helping rebuild a community center damaged by fire, and helping the communities prepare for the coming winter.
We are so excited to be able to use the gifts and abilities God has given us through our aviation training to serve alongside Alaskan missionaries and the native church body this summer. Additionally, this internship will provide a great opportunity for us the learn whether the organization of SEND and the location of Alaska would be a good fit for us for long-term placement. Because this is just a short term internship at first, we will still be under the umbrella of SOAR as an organization, and so those of you who support us financially won't have to change anything about that for the time being. We ask that you would pray that we would be a blessing to the SEND missionaries and the Alaskan natives we will be serving, and pray that the Lord would use this time to enlighten us and give us wisdom and discernment in determining where He will have us serve Him long term.
Thank you all so much for your prayers and support on each step of our journey! We thank God at every remembrance of you!
Much love,
Matt and Abi
