Welcome to our April newsletter. We have a new talk coming up this Tuesday and next month it's our AGM (necessary, but short) with a fascinating talk from Helen Weinstein as an accompaniment.
This Tuesday: Archives and Digital history
For April we are back to our usual schedule with an event on Tuesday 13 April at 7:30pm.
We will be presenting three short talks on archives and digital history.
Mary Burgess (Cambridgeshire Collection) shares details of what materials the collection holds, and how you can access some of these online.
Jim Costin (Cambridge University Library) offers tips and tricks on looking after digital records.
Mary Naylor (Cambridgeshire Family History Society) looks at digitised parish records and what you can learn from them.
The event will be on Zoom, the connection details are as follows:
Annual General Meeting plus Sturton Town History with Helen Weinstein
Our May event will also be our AGM and will be on Tuesday 11 May at 7:30pm.
More details about this in the next newsletter but we are hoping the Helen Weinstein of HistoryWorks will be telling us about all the work she and her team of volunteers from the Sturton Town area have been doing over the past 18 months or so to uncover the stories of their streets.
Book - Allan Brigham: A Brush with the Past
We mentioned this last newsletter but there is a new book available collecting some of Allan's writings available from https://hannahbrigham.wixsite.com/allanbrigham. The first print run sold out but new copies will be available very soon.
An Evening for Allan Brigham video
If you missed our Cambridge Festival event a couple of weeks ago then we're happy to say that you can now watch it on our YouTube channel at https://youtu.be/pZhzzwC-aak. It has been lightly edited to remove a few technical issues but otherwise contains all the contributions we received on the night. A big thanks again to all those who gave us some of their memories of Allan.
