International Gairdner Award Goes to U of T Scientist for Metabolism Research


Professor Daniel Drucker has been jointly awarded a 2021 Canada Gairdner International Award for his research, which has led to several new classes of drugs to treat type 2 diabetes, obesity and intestinal disorders.

Insulin100 Symposium Draws World Experts in Diabetes Research and Care 


Recorded presentations and a live event in mid-April will bring leading diabetes researchers and clinicians to viewers around the world, in a U of T event marking the centenary of insulin.

Honours & Awards

 

Graduate Faculty Teaching Awards 


Temerty Medicine announced the winners of the Graduate Faculty Teaching Awards, which recognize full-time faculty who teach in doctoral-stream or professional graduate programs.

Professor Deryk Beal will be honoured with the Early Career Excellence in Graduate Teaching and Mentorship Award.

Professors Julie Claycomb and Richard Bazinet will be honoured with the Mid-Career Excellence in Graduate Teaching & Mentorship.

Offering comfort to a friend or volunteering in your community doesn't just help others — these experiences can leave you feeling better about yourself, according to Professor Jennifer Stellar. 

Stellar studies "prosocial" emotions like compassion, gratitude and awe, and her findings support that doing good for others is good for us, too.
