BRING CRUISING INTO THE BUBBLE

Hello <<First Name>>

Yesterday’s announcement of a trans-Tasman travel bubble is a great step forward for tourism and will be welcomed by the many thousands Australian and New Zealand travel agents who have been devastated by border closures over the past year.

It’s a positive move, but it also highlights the lack of progress from governments towards a responsible resumption of local cruise operations.

The extensive new health protocols adopted by cruise lines globally are among the most comprehensive of any industry worldwide and are already working successfully in several countries overseas. With these measures in place, Australia and New Zealand have an opportunity to begin phasing in carefully controlled cruises in our own waters.

Whether it’s local cruising within a domestic model, or trans-Tasman cruising within a regional bubble, now is the time for our governments to move towards resumption.

CLIA has had extensive discussions with governments and will continue to do so. To support our efforts, visit www.WeAreCruise.org for resources and templates to help you contact your Member of Parliament and amplify our voice.

Ocean Debut Showcase

Globally, cruise lines continue to advance towards recovery and have a series of incredible new ships and onboard experiences to launch over coming seasons.

To highlight these latest developments and provide insight for travel agent members, CLIA is planning an Ocean Debut Showcase next month to outline all the exciting new ships preparing to join the world fleet in 2021.

As the latest in our online event series, this week-long showcase will offer presentations from multiple cruise lines as they explain the features and positioning of more than a dozen new cruise ships soon to make their debut.

Full details will be announced soon, so stay tuned.

Stay safe,

Joel Katz
Managing Director, CLIA Australasia

COVID-19 UPDATE

Over the past year medical experts have made extraordinary advances as they work to understand and combat COVID-19, helping to support the travel industry as it works to uphold safety and revive world tourism.

To help share these latest insights, the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has partnered with Carnival Corporation and Hilton to host a 2021 Global Scientific Summit on COVID-19 on April 15.

The online summit is free to join and is now open for registrations. It will bring together top global scientists and health experts to discuss the latest discoveries and best practices for living in a world with COVID-19, building on a similar forum hosted last year.
