We would like to extend our warmest welcome to the 2021-2022 Executive Team. We can't wait to see all that you will accomplish in the upcoming year in the undergraduate psychology community at the University of Alberta. Welcome aboard!

Thank you to all the candidates and voters for your support! By participating in the election process, you have chosen leaders that are committed to improving our undergraduate psychology community and beyond.
Check out the Psychologists' Association of Alberta (PAA) Student Group on Facebook! This group exists for students currently enrolled in a psychology program in Alberta who want to share ideas, information, articles, workshops and support for one another. The Mission of the PAA is to advance the science-based profession of psychology and to promote the well-being and potential of all Albertans. This group has been created as a way to connect students across the province as well as to discuss student issues and opportunities related to the profession of psychology.
In the online workshop, attendees will learn about data science as a career option, product life cycle in a company, and gain information on various roles in the field from an industry professional. The second part of the session will focus on the basics of Python, including a demo and a case study.

STEMNet is a new mentorship program for undergraduate students enrolled in STEM programs that facilitates one-time, virtual "coffee chats" between undergraduates mentees and experienced mentors in graduate schools, professional schools, and/or industry. This is a new program being offered by the STEMpowerment Mentorship division of the Canadian charity, STEM Fellowship.

Accepted mentees will be paired with compatible mentors for a one-time meeting (30-60 min) where the mentees can ask questions about careers, schooling, application processes, etc.

To learn more check out: http://stemfellowship.org/mentorship.
To apply to be a mentee, please fill out this form.

We are still accepting applications for our 2021-2022 Peer Mentorship Program. This program connects first-year students transitioning into university to mentors and tutors in their upper years of study. The UPA hopes to empower both the mentor and the mentee and establish lasting connections in the psychology community. Volunteers are in their second year or higher of their academic program and interested in helping first-years navigate the university transition and field of psychology. Mentors should also have one year of experience at the UofA! Sign up here to be a mentor this Fall 2021!
If you are looking for ways to make a positive impact in the community, check out UPA's Volunteer Database! We continuously update the list so that you can find the right experience and get involved! Have questions about volunteer opportunities? Let us know and we'll get you in touch with our VP Volunteers.
That's all, folks! Remember to take care of yourselves and take advantage of UofA's mental health services if you need further support. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, you can reach us by email, on social media (Instagram, Facebook, Discord, LinkedIn) or through the Contact Us form on our website. Good luck with your final exams and have an amazing summer break!
