Upper Body Technique & Carmen
This class offers you an opportunity to focus only on the upper body and expression, which are truly the most important aspects of flamenco dance. Multilevel class. This spring term we will start working in detail on flamenco turns and dive into the character of "Carmen". The choreography will integrate the techniques and exercises learned on this course. You can have your camera on or off if you prefer during class.

Flamenco is an intensively expressive dance form.
What is the meaning behind the movement in flamenco? Where does the movement come from?
A lot of movements and in flamenco are driven by emotions. It is important to learn to associate what the meaning and emotion of the gestures, hand movements, shoulders and torso mean and can convey. In this class, we explore that.
Through repetition and sequencing, students will learn and work on arms, hands, torso and hips, which are so important in flamenco dance. The class is intended to build up strength, flexibility and solidify technique.
These classes are 50 minutes long and are designed for at home learning. Flamenco shoes are recommended but not required.All classes include:

Full classes will be available on demand within 24 hours after each class for the duration of the course + a week.
