Research request: Overcoming cultural barriers to data transformation

Open Data Manchester is collaborating with Catalyst, part of The National Lottery Community Fund COVID-19 Digital Response, to understand how the use of data is transforming the social sector.

"...we’re looking for charities in England that have had such ‘data success stories’ to share what they have learned, so that we can help others with similar ambitions get the confidence that they need to take the right steps.

If you’ve undergone a data transformation – however big or small the success – we want to hear from you.

We need one to two hours of your time during April and can offer £250 for your time".

Interested? Please complete this form agreeing to be contacted by Open Data Manchester and CAST for the purposes of this research

How might the Data Collective make a difference in the non-profit sector?

"Since November, the Data Collective pilot has been conducting user research. There were a whole host of questions we were trying to answer, including (but certainly not limited to):

  • Who’s the Data Collective for and what does this mean for others who aren’t part of it?
  • What happens in the Data Collective and what does it do?
  • What is the Data Collective trying to achieve and what outcomes is it aiming to bring about?
  • How can the Data Collective structure its activities to promote participation?
  • How can the Data Collective organise and share content or outputs?

As we near the end of that user research, analyse what people have said, and reflect on the things we have tried out so far, things are becoming clearer..."

Who is working on what, and how can others get involved?
